BassinJ
Just wanted to get a basic statistic info on whether or not more people fish bucktails with trailers, or trailerless. If you do choose to fish with trailers primarily, what trailer do you have most confidence with? No excuses, go fishing.

Striped Bass
I use a trailer on my bucktails but you can also fish a bucktail with no trailer for a smaller profile sometimes that is the ticked for catching the fish, it is always good to experiment and see what works best that day, time, etc. "Get up, stand up, and fight for your rights" Bob Marley Catch & Release + Respect Mother Nature

Sweetwater
It depends on what I doing. Trailers can create larger baits, enhance profile or manage sink rates. I can pretty much do the second two without a trailer by changing jigs, but I can't find 8" bucktail. I use trailers maybe 80% of the time to manage sink rates within a "match the hatch" framework, beacuse I fish water that is rarely deeper than six feet and quite rocky. In this situation, I want my bait to kind of float over obstructions and a trailer is the way to go. If bait is really small, I will go without the trailer and cross my fingers. I have become too old to drink bourbon on the rocks. I will still drink it in the parking lot.

These two explained it perfectly...I'd just like to point that out TimS Show someone how to catch striped bass and they'll be ready to fish anywhere. Show someone where to go striped bass fishing and you'll have a desperate report chaser with loose lips.
