KevinB
last night was a great game, but how many actually got to watch it? Looking around on the TV I couldnt find the damn thing, until after searching the net I read it was being carried by WPIX, which seemed simple enough until I couldnt find WPIX, the station I grew up on. It seems comcast in CT dropped WPIX, replaced it with WTXX so sort of CW channel. I ended up goin to NFL.com and watching the second half on my laptop, not fun, but was worth it. I'm trying to figure out how this game was not carried in CT , anyone know the backstory on this one?

Fluke Jr
i went on NFL dot com to watch it, but the connection speed was terrible due to the millions of others watching the game online. the quality sucked too (well it was much worse than TV quality, obviously)
KevinB
The show stopper aka the Hiesman oh, so this was done on purpose, very lame by the NFL. At first I thought I had the wrong time, then I thought it was my TV, then my local channel change.
Ditch Jigger
Basically--it's what happens when two monopolies--the NFL and your local cable operator--can't agree on whose slice of the pie is bigger. The NFL wants their network to run on cable's basic service, like ESPN does, even though they charge a little more per viewer. The cable companies want to run it as a premium service and charge accordingly. You, the customer, get screwed, because billion dollar a year monopolies are arguing over a few pennies. iphish
only local networks within 75 miles could carry it to the local audience. We got on channel 5 out of boston- but not in the digital format we have come to really appreciate. we are in southern Maine, about 60 miles from boston. Outstanding game over all- even though we came up short in win column, excellent game to watch though.

Eagles Dare
Get rid of the cable company and sign up for Dish Network Turbo HD Platinum. Around 30 HD channels for $33 a month. I'll have mine on the rocks.
Ditch Jigger
thats ok, Im reading a very good book.......... I was gonna get the NFL network, but I odnt feel like paying for it. Some people can't even pay for it if they want to--their cable company won't carry it. That's kind of what happened between the Yankees and Cablevision. For many years the Yankee games were on the MSG network, that Cablevision owns. Then the Yankees went and formed their own cable network, YES, and Cablevision refused to carry it. Lots of people went out and got the Dish, and never looked back "…if catching fish is your only objective, you are either new to the game or too narrowly focused on measurable results.” - D. g2h
Here in Westport, it's Charter. They showed all the pre-game stuff, then as soon as kick off was about to happen, the screen went black, and the words FCC regulation prohibits Charter communication from airing the pats/Jets game. ... went to the barn, shot up a few plugs and listened to it on the radio... I hate Charter communications..
