To the Mangini detractors

Let me preface this by saying that I have no illusions of Mangini being the next Parcells and there is definitely some 'interesting' play calling. However, there a lot of things we don't know about what goes on behind the scenes. I did see a team that loves playing for their coach, plays well together and has little to no dissension amongst the ranks.

Remember, the shotgun is Farve's comfort zone. It may limit the play options, but he does not like to play under center. Maybe HE called that play to open the Jets' first drive in the third quarter. We can speculate about about what might have happened if the Pats did not fumble on that third quarter drive or if Cassel had been able to hit Moss on that long pass. OTH, what if Keller had not dropped that TD pass or if Cotchery had not been stripped? It's football, players make mistakes, and the team that makes the most mistakes usually loses the game. In retrospect, playing the prevent defense on the last drive was the wrong move. Conventional wisdom says the clock was supposed to run out. Had they blitzed and given up the big play, everybody would be crying about that too. In the end, the Jets won and the Pats lost. Pretty or ugly, they won.

The Jets play the Titans and the Pats play the Fish. There could be a first place tie again a week from Sunday.

Patriots playing 3 conference games in a row is a tall order, especailly since one of those teams who they face next week totally blew them out of the water teh first time they played, and have been playing well ever since. The Titans are goign to lose at some point, the Jets have 3 extra days to prepare for them, so tehy shoudl come out in teh first half ready to play. Once Mangini makes his typical halftime adjustments, the Titans will come back.

honestly, I coudl care less where Favre likes to run plays from, the fact is if the Jets are unable to run the ball effectively, they cannot pass effectively. Last night was a prfect example. They cannot run effectively from teh shotgun, so he's gotta take snaps under center, do his play action, fake screen, spin around to teh otehr side of the field for an 8 yard completion 8 times a game, lol.

LEon Washington is a bal out for the Jets. They give Favre all teh dredit for throwing 2 TD's, when the only reason tehy scored on either of them is both players ran the ball in. If they aren't going to run the ball, at least throw screens...last night it was clear the PAtriots were stacking teh line of scrimmage in teh 3rd & 4th Q, all they needed to do was go outside and there was easy positve yards out there on almost every down.

My feeling after watching the game....was that the Jets won inspite of having Mangini as their coach. As always the defensive changes that were made in the last few minutes were his stupid call, and almost cost them the game. Only difference now is they players have Brett to believe in and look to for leadership...between that and enough new players that have yet to be tainted with the historical Jets loser malaise.

On a positive note..it was a fun game to watch, and the following guys played like absolute studs.

1. Favre

2. Cassel...he has matured dramatically

3. Keller

4. Jenkins

You Jet fans crack me up. You complain even when you win! That was like the 2nd time the Jets have beat the Pats in the last 16 games! Kudos to the Jets for going into a tough place to play and coming away with a victory. Despite Billy40's hate for the guy, Farve played pretty well. Leon Washington is a game changer as well. AFC East is no NFC East, but it should be entertaining right down to the wire.

The Jets did run the ball effectively. They threw the ball effectively. They were more than effective on special teams and they won. You're like an Eagles fan, except you actually want the Jets to lose. wink.gif

Collingsworth was blowing Leon Washington the whole game, as soon as he finished blowing Farve. There is not a Jet fan out there who does not recognize Washington as being a key element on this team. There are good players emerging all over the team and they are going to be tough to beat going forward. I tip my hat to the Pats for getting over 500 yards of offense against this team, but they lost on time of possession and most of all, they lost the game.

I gotta give credit where it is due.

The Pats were able to produce a winning record on depleted assets; they were in first place.

1. testament to the coach, program and bench players.

2. Cassell (by the numbers) is a proven gamer.

3. Welker is an opposing defender's worst nightmare.

4. defence has holes, but you can't have a winning record with inconsistent D.
