chicky
my gf just got word she has to let 10% more go Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat. Joe H
My buddy who fixes my cars(certified Ford service tech) just got the word his dealership is closing down in a couple weeks. They've been there forever too. Not a large dealership but I'm sure there's at least 50 or so employees in all departments.
HugeDinghy
HD- doesn't that translate to job security for someone like you that is in the workforce development/WIA world? Â Â Â You'd think so, but staff is being cut in a big way..I have had to cut my budget by a 1/4 total (over $200k), and thats in increments over the last three weeks with more to come. What they should do is go regional..there are 16 Workforce Investment Board areas in the state, they should combine regions and cut that in 1/2 (mind you I say that but if done could very well cost me my job, but it isnt about me). its like school districts, Maryland has very similar number to us and they have, like, 40 school districts while MA has well over 200. Can you say too much overhead.. Â Plus I run the youth side, so I am not "under" the unemployment department. Â Common sense would tell you that our services are needed much more, but when crap hits the fan like this our budgets go down- I am not complaining, everyones takin a hit on this one and I will take my fair share. HugeDinghy
You can file online, what's the matter with those fools? Â Â Â Jay- In MA, you have to attend workshops at the one-stop career center to get your benefits..so thats what most are doing, initial filing and signing up for the required workshops and job searches...
