JFishKing
I am looking at both of these reels and am curious to hear everyone and anyones thoughts, comparison, views on the reels. thanks.
rocket500
I like the Stradic a little better, lays line beautifully and depending on which sizes you compare mostly runs a little lighter. Both have nice drags and are braid friendly.
High Plains Drifter
I'll be evaluating the Stradic FI's (8000) new "line propulsion" system while long range plugging in Mexico next week. It claims to throw a smaller diameter line coil and to have less line pulse as it flys off the spool. All this is supposed to deliver longer casts. We will see.................... - HPD
xmytruck
I have an Stradic Fi 8000 and I did compare it to the Cabo.. I choose the Stradic because it was lighter than the cabo 50 and it seemed smoother. After one year of fishing with it I have no complaints at all.. thx x

Wiggum
I can't give you an opinion of the Stradic since I've only owed Cabo's I own 4 of them. Solid reels, braid friendly, great drag. I've never had problems with any of them. I'd love to try a Stradic but I'm too pleased with my Cabo's to stray away. rocket500
I will say that I spent half of Tuesday fishing with my VS and half of Tuesday fishing with my Spheros (which has the same spool lip design as the Stradic) and there was noticably less line slap on the spool on casts with the Shimano- the line flows off much more smoothly and with much less noise. fishinthedark
I have the new Stradic 5000Fi love the reel I used it on my 8 ft Tica dolphin for my western sound fishing. I also own a Boca 40 similiar to the cabo so I feel that I could offer an opinion. Both are very good reels, I would give the edge a very small one at that to the quantum boca on the drag. Distance would go to the shimano, as well as the line lay. Both very good reels, if I were fishing only from the boat I would go with the quantum from the land edge is to the shimano. hope that helps I Fish therefore I Lie
fishchile
I own both Stradics and Cabo's. I love them both. I will say that I never had a bail close on my Stradic and did on my Cabo. I know now what I have to do to prevent it on my Cabo. The Stradic is a little lighter in weight and a little more complex inside. I think the Stradic is much smoother out of the box. That changes after you add grease and lube to the Cabo which come from the factory lightly greased. Cabos are pretty simple inside and you can break one down in the parking lot. The Stradic does have a bail spring the Cabos do not....they use magnets. I like the drag on the Cabo more. This season my Cabos spent a bunch of time underwater and went two to three weeks a few times with out rinsing. They held up fine. I do know that the first thing to go is the line roller. It gets noisy and give you some for warning that it need to be replaced. First thing to go on the Stradic is the bail spring....then the anti reverse clutch. You should get a few years before either go. I do like the way the Stradic stacks the line with a taper from the face to spool bottom. Casting distance...I could not comment. I have them on different rods with different types of braids. Oh one other thing....the vertical distance from the bail to the reel foot is a little greater on the Cabo...most folks don't notice this but on one of my light plugging rods the Stradic bail seems to hit my rod hand when cranking with gloves on. Both are good reels and you won't be disappointed. Hope this helps "Nick did not like to fish with other men on the river. Unless they were of your party, they spoiled it." Gmofftarki
I have both a Cabo 60 and a Stradic FH 5000 (yeah, I know, not the FI, but deal with it). I prefer the Cabo for the same reasons Fishchile does. Quote:Originally Posted by Mark LevinLiberals tell you the government sucks, and they want more of it!
