dj_is
All, I am used to fishing with bucktails and plastics, but have found a spot where I think that plugs would be ideal. It is a long jetty with lots of boulders surrounding it, and a fair current ripping around the end. There is no light, so I am guessing lures with more action would be key, and it would be nice to be able to stay out of the snags! Any recs? Thanks! J.K.
I personally would stay with the bucktails, but you can always give a darter a try. Toss it up current and retrieve. I sometimes find it hard fo get the darter to dig depending on how high I am on a jetty. So many fish in the ocean, but only one so dear to my heart. My wife ofcourse! Sounds like your spot was designed for bucktails and darters, maybe some shad. Saving the world, one skell at a time.LIBBA #1384

emgred
All, There is no light, so I am guessing lures with more action would be key, and it would be nice to be able to stay out of the snags! Any recs? Thanks! Don't forget the PROFILE. Here are two thoughts 1 - Sluggo rigged on a Point Jude Wobble Head. Heads come in various sizes; I'm sure you can find a size to swim in the current, over the structure and not snag. 2 - A metal lip that dives a bit. Tattoo diving swimmer & JNSki Slope Head Jr. come to mind. You can adjust the depth by bending the eye of the plug a little. A Curmudgeon's reputation for malevolence is undeserved. They're neither warped nor evil at heart. They don't hate mankind, just mankind's absurdities.
Heavy Hooksetter
sounds like the perfect place to sling out a large pug and allow it to drift out and slwoly bring it back. even drift it out and let it hang there waggin' like a dog. I would say a 6 inch danny, choopy's 1.5 oz swimmer[online store here] a 6 inch darter held out there would do it too! have a look at the online store right here! FishNH
Stay with the bucktails. use a heavier one if the current is ripping as you stated. cast upcurrent and let the flow bring the bucktail to the sweet zone

ReelMan
I have 4 in my mind, Darters (my fav at night is the yo-zuri Ghost Black 1-OZ mag darter) WTD (Heddon Super Spook Bone or Baby Bass and Mirro-Lure He-Dog 95MR) Bucktails (spro Bucktails) Poppers (floating type, any will do) Also i have a great success at night using a 4 inch fresh squid or cuttlefish stripe on 1-OZ jig heads (slow retrieve with some twitch's)... Fitzy
During the day- a big spook just crawled along. I've been doing pretty good with them lately. At night, I'd probably go with 12" unweighted sluggo if it's less than 7-8 feet or a bomber... If it's deeper than that then a weighted sluggo.
