jimmy z
My friends, what two items, plugs, reels, rods, etc., would you miss if for some reason they were lost, broken or in the case of plugs, taken by the toothy ones. I have two, a Penn 155 that has been with me for 37 years or so and the other is Daiwa Sealine X 10' casting rod. Now I know that they are just things, but some things we get used to and comfortable with, and they become part of this thing we do. What are yours? Mullet Miller
It would have to be my VS150B. Not because it's a Van Staal, but because of who I bought it from and the fun that was had that day. I bought the reel back in 94 from Hoss Cochran at the Cape Henlopen Pier store that he ran. I took a half day off work to head down and get a new reel, had some problems over the previous couple of months with reels failing or malfunctioning due to getting blasted with saltwater and sand on the beach during some heavy fishing sessions. When I arrived at his shop, it was just Hoss and one of his buddies there. We started shooting the breeze about fishing, life, politics and whatever else popped into our heads. It turned into a couple of hours of BSing that were just onee of those days you never forget. Hoss sold me the reel, and knocked off 10% from the price and spooled the reel for nothing. It turned out to be one of those days. Since Hoss passed several years ago, fishing at Henlopen has never been the same for me, he made the 2 hour drive worth it. Thanks Hoss. medic6973
Honestly my VS and my vehicle. The truck gets me to the fish, and the Van Staal lets me fish without having to panic every time it gets dunked, or service after every trip. I will never buy an unsealed reel again. TLDig
either one of my 5 wt setups... one because i've had it SO long and it's just got too many memories associated with it, the other because the rod came from the guys here on SOL.... and it's purple. the pink reel that goes on it is pretty special, too. Ack. Foo. I want to die from a good old fashioned case of living.

gadabout
I'd say my Penn 704 that I've had for close to 40 years and an Orvis glass fly rod that will be 30 years old next spring.

longcaster
It would be "line" for me. Without line, casting goes away, reeling in is gone, fighting a fish gone. What good is a great rod or reel if there is nothing to connect it to the lure or bait with? If being stupid got us into this mess, how come being stupid can't get us out?I don't want to behave improperly, so I just won't behave at all. rocket500
I'd probably miss my VS reel more than anything if I didn't have it.
Ditch Jigger
My All Star 1208 and my Fisher 8740. The only two rods I own that could never be replaced. Parrot6909
Not saltwater stuff but a 1000 Stradic that I have had since the first year they came out and a berkely air weight rod that the reel is mounted on. That setup has caught more fish for me then anything I own. From trout to bass.....unreal.

Sudsy
From a perspective of usefulness my truck and my back saver wading belt. From an emotional point of view, Jeff Morris's old 706 and the plugs Gary gave me.
