Eric Roach
In a general way, are you finding the SSU ratings accurate (as opposed to something like the GSB line)?
canyondiver
On the SSU 101mhs it seems pretty accurate. Proud to be a NERB and I have the shirts to prove it!!
Ditch Jigger
Yes, although with a spinning reel I can throw under 2 oz on my 10 MHS. A 9" Sluggo or 10" RonZ on a 5 oz head is no problem at all. "…if catching fish is your only objective, you are either new to the game or too narrowly focused on measurable results.” - D. numbskull
The SSU 120mh I built handles 2-6 well. I recall an experienced rod builder in Wareham told me the 120m didn't do well over 3 oz (it is rated to 4). Seems like the rating on the 120L ought to go lower than 1oz (as it is a lighter blank than the SSU 120M) but I've never seen one.
angler229
1201m is pretty accurate but more like 3 1/2 is top of optimal.
SurffisherMike
SSU108M 1-3 SSU120M 1-3 MAYBE 3 1/2 SSU120L 3/4 - 2 SSU1321MH - i have only done a very little test casting with this, throws 4oz well, seems like it can go a few more oz's though
Eric Roach
SSU108M 1-3 SSU120M 1-3 MAYBE 3 1/2 SSU120L 3/4 - 2 SSU1321MH - i have only done a very little test casting with this, throws 4oz well, seems like it can go a few more oz's though Thank you for posting that. Do you think the 1321MH can do 1 (well)?
SurffisherMike
not well but you can throw a 1 oz bucktail or tin ok. again i have only done a little test casting gonna work on it over the winter. but my intial response was than it wont handle the lower end as well as the gsb1321m but it probably has a higher top end
