needlefishaddict
Something about this just seems wrong. Down economy, lower wage employees...and recruiting stations in Walmart stores? Wal-Mart, Army Reserve link for recruiting, hiring By Associated Press | November 12, 2008 BENTONVILLE, Ark. - Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has signed on to an Army Reserve program in which the company and the Army will work together to recruit and train people interested in serving in the military and working for the giant retailer. Wal-Mart, the world's largest private employer, has more than 1.4 million US employees. An agreement signed yesterday obligates Wal-Mart to interview and consider all qualified, participating soldiers for employment after they complete military occupational specialty training. When a reserve soldier who works at Wal-Mart is called to service, the company can draw on 1 million or so citizen soldiers to help identify a qualified replacement to work in the soldier's place. The arrangement is expected to lower costs of recruiting and training for Wal-Mart.
Fissssh
Sounds like Walmart is not just recruiting but hiring ex military and holding the jobs for reserves that have to serve. I would hope that our Vets would be able to return from protecting our boarders and have a chance at a better job then at Walmart.

I would rather "demonize" you put it - I do have an opinion you are going down a road thats a lot about nothing - the armed forces have worked with private and public corporations for a very long time. A perfect example is the money poured in to NASCAR - every branch from the Border Patrol to Coast Guard, Navy, Marines and Air Force sponsor cars. So the partnership with NASCAR is under an agreement to provide jobs and hold places, like Walmart is promising to do.? That is news to me. That is news to me. Way to use that noggin - they have had partnerships with NASCAR and significant presence at races in order to assist with the recruiting process - but you knew that didnt you - no need to actually point out the facts right? RJ
Nothing wrong, children! Those who work for Wal-Mart do so by exercising their free will. Those who join the reserves volunteer. Freedom of choice is the basis. IF you don't like the thought of people working for Wal-Mart do you have an alternative, upscale job waiting for a vet? A job brings it own dignity! What some sensitive souls just don't understand the need for someone else to work for a company they know nothing about. They "feel" Wal-Mart is sub standard. They have no idea that almost every store manager has worked his way up to that position and earns more than $100,000.00 a year plus bonuses based upon meeting marketing goals. It is called Work and Wal-Mart pays people money for it. Novel Idea, huh? Are you on a track at your place of employment that will allow you to break the 100 K salary limit? likwid
One of the new recruits... His flair will win him many medals. The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?
