Little
What will destroy our country and us is not the financial crisis but the fact that liberals think the free market is some kind of sect or cult, which conservatives have asked Americans to take on faith. That's not what the free market is. The free market is just a measurement, a device to tell us what people are willing to pay for any given thing at any given moment. The free market is a bathroom scale. You may hate what you see when you step on the scale. "Jeeze, 230 pounds!" But you can't pass a law making yourself weigh 185. Liberals think you can. And voters--all the voters, right up to the tippy-top corner office of Goldman Sachs--think so too. Great article http://www.weeklystandard.com/Conten...5/791jsebl.asp “My happiness is not the means to any end. It is the end. It is its own goal. It is its own purpose.” Ayn Rand
John Purser
O'Rourke thinks LIBERALS look at markets as faith base institutions???? Amazing. Of all the preposterous assumptions of humanity over humanity, nothing exceeds most of the criticisms made on the habits of the poor by the well-housed, well-warmed, and well-fed. - Herman Melville
Bonefish79
I love this line: "We (conservatives) consider people--with a few obvious exceptions--to be assets. Liberals consider people to be nuisances." "If you think fly fishermen are strange, try having a conversation with a mushroom picker." likwid
O'Rourke should stick to making jokes about the market. The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself? Roadrunner
Sometimes PJ has insights the straight-laced miss. Great article.
