BassinJ
Hey, I was doing some plugging today, and a good bluefish blitz started to happen, started throwing diamond jigs at them, and hooked into a few, well a few casts later the diamond jigs snaps off on a fish. I was using a wireleader which was attached to 20lb fluorocarbon leader which was attached to a barrel swivel. When the line snapped all was left was braid, so the line snapped at or after the barrel swivel. Although I think it snapped at the swivel. This happened again later in the day on another bluefish with another diamond jig. So my question to you, is which knot is best for tying braid to a barrel swivel? I was using an improved clinch knot. Should you use a different knot with braid? No excuses, go fishing.
Seon
I found that the Palomar knot is the best to use with braid lines.

jbt114
I found that the Palomar knot is the best to use with braid lines. X2 on the Palomar... I use 40 lb. leader to my barrel then to the braid with the Palomar. I've never heard of wire to fluro to braid. Too many weak points. Chris I'm on a bridge to a better day... skip0ls
the braid knot works the best with braid, it's an improved cinch knot with the line doubled to start. it's good with braid, and light mono. try it sometime.

rocket500
Sometimes blues will hit at the leader when another blue is on, so its possible you were bitten off.

Wiseguy
Sometimes blues will hit the swivel. Doesn't matter what knot you have there when that happens. MikeBlue
What's the brand of braid? I recently switched to 20 lb. Fireline and on a very light cast, about 20yds, the bail closed. I had on a 1 oz shad and off it went. When I looked at the end of the line I could still see a couple of curls from the knot where it broke off at the swivel. The cast was short and the lure was light, even though the bail closed there was not enough force to snap the line, it has something to do with the knot. The knot was a uni which I have never had a problem with when I was using PP. Tomorrow I will 'snap' test my leader-braid connection.
