Thumb-Burner
who built it? insane price for an awesome stick.. i must resist.. i do not need one in spinning.. i do not need one in spinning i don not need one in spinning.. If you give a man a fish, he will eat for a day. But, if you teach a man to fish, he will spend all his money on fishing tackle and won't be able to afford to eat! Ratty
Reel fishermen spin fish.... Surfcasting is NOT a crime.
pauley1
is the Surf the same weight as a Uptide or heavier?
Thumb-Burner
is the Surf the same weight as a Uptide or heavier? i have both and have casted them a pretty good amount.. they are actually similar in my opinion in the weight range.. 2-5 like a rocket...... surf is longer and a little firmer tip and not quite as fast action. If you give a man a fish, he will eat for a day. But, if you teach a man to fish, he will spend all his money on fishing tackle and won't be able to afford to eat! pauley1
LOL I meant how heavy is the rod. Not weight ranges. Like is the rod a total of 16 ounces (for example)? Is the Surf much heavier in weight compared to the Uptide?
Eric Roach
I was the builder. I should mention here that I did not build this rod with the intention of selling it -- it just turns out my Zziplex PTX meets my plugging needs better than the Surf. I'm not a pro, but I feel I did a decent job. This was my third stick with lowriders. I think just about everything I'm putting-up on SOL to sell is under-priced. I just want to move all the gear and plugs I don't use so I can apply that money to some high-end purchases...Recycling cash rather than putting any new money in, you know? Back to this rod: I loved it for OTG casting a chunk and 4, it freakin' launches a mile...It just turns out that I hardly ever fish in that manner. I'm a lure-tosser at heart. Eric Roach
Blank weight of the Surf is 15.8 oz. The Uptide is 11 oz...But there's a 2' 3" difference in lengths.
Sudsy
FWIW, those look like Concept guides and are more expensive then lowriders Great deal on my favorite rod, someone should jump on this. I just wanta play everyday despite small nagging injuries -- and go home to a woman who appreciates how full of crap I truly am. ~ Crash Davis Social Distancing since 1962

Saltwaterhabits
Hey Paul , The way you've spoken about the AFAW rods in the past it was just a matter of time. I've got the Uptide and thought about it myself. GREAT ROD,GREATER PRICE. Mike
