steadagolf
Looking at these rods to go with a new Stella 4000. Will the guides on the Legend be ok with Fireline? Any opinions on either one? Thanks!
MD51
Fit & Finish is def. better on the Legend. I fish & love my Loomis rods but would have to give the nod to the St. Croix when comparing the two. I haven't fished either of these rods but from handling both of em - I myself would lean towards the Croix. If you have a chance get out there and handle them both - only you will know which one best suits your fishing style. All d' Best, MD
steadagolf
Thanks! I have handled the St Croix Legend but not the Loomis Greenwater. The legend was really nice. Anyone fish the Legend and know how the guides will hold up to Fireline? I haven't seen the Greenwater - don't know what the guides on it are. pantherm
either way that will be sweet
bospa357
Yeah, that Legend will handle braid just nice. Titanium guide frames with ceramic inserts. I have a Freshwater Bass Legend Tournament rod that I use braid on all the time and it is really sweet. No guide wear at all.
MD51
Doesn't the Legend Inshore utilize the RECOIL guide system?
steadagolf
Yes - it has the recoil guide system - that's why I was wondering about the guides. I forget what the tip is.
newsjeff
Inshore Legend rods are awsome. I've never thrown the Greenwater Loomis. However, I've thrown the Legends and the Loomis IMXs side-by-side. Both are great rods, and I would be happy fishing either. If I had to chose, it'd be the St. Croix. PS: I like the RECOIL guids a lot. Fool me once, shame on you...fool me twice - you go eff yourself. -Billy
steadagolf
Thanks for the help - I think I'll go with the Legend.
Muleski
I have two Legends. Both with reels spooled with braid. Awesome rods. Highly recommend them.
SCCoastal
I have a 6'6" medium action Legend Inshore and 2 Greenwaters, one being a 6'6" and the other 7'. They are all great rods, but I really like the Legend. The butt section is a couple of inches longer and more comfortable for me. The Greenwater's shorter butt section is great for some applications, though (perfect for wading). One problem with the 7' is that the rod tends to be tip-heavy. The action on the Greenwaters is outstanding. They call it medium heavy, but I would say it falls between medium and medium heavy which is just about perfect for trout and reds. You can't go wrong either way.

James3shin
It's a very tough choice between these two rods. Do you fish with braid? If so, the braid will eventually put grooves into the REC guides. Other then that, both blanks are very nice to fish.
newsjeff
The Recoil guides on my Legend Inshore LIS70MF don't have any signs of grooving whatsoever. And that's with fishing both Fireline and Sufix Braid. However, the guides do flex under pressure. I don't mind this, but I know some people who do. On the flip side, they are light and don't break. Or rust. Fool me once, shame on you...fool me twice - you go eff yourself. -Billy

It's a shame, because they are so light and flexible.
