Nissan Outboards

Any users out there? Feedback and opinions appreciated. In particular those from 60-90 Hp from 2000-2003.

My neighbor had one, I believe it was a 2002. Ran like a top, he sold the boat though so not sure how its fairing now. Had around 700 hours when he sold it and never a whimper.

Nissan Outboards are all made by Tohatsu. I have a 2003 90hp Tohatsu TLDI dfi 2 stroke. In six seasons, and over about 250 hours, it has never so much as stalled on me. Excellent, reliable motors in my opinion.

have a little 3 1/2 horse....abuse it, runs like a top.....

I had one before a 50 hp tohatsu TLDI,run great,maintenance very easy,light weight,even a little bit noisy,you have to buy a good separator water/gazoline,the injectors dont like water.

Nissan and Tohatsu motors aren't seen up here much,but down south they are used by a lot of guides with great reliability. I wouldn't shy away from them as long as there is a place to get service if you need it. JP

I had a nissan 70 hp and it was a piece of chit,,,it never ever was dependable,, I have since owned a johnson(oceanrunner) merc and now love my 4 stroke Yamaha, Maybe Nissan is better now,,,,, but I got a lemon

I have a 40hp, 2002, 2 stroke, tiller. I bought it used two seasons ago and have not had a problem. It has carbs, not injection. Very easy to maintain, much lighter in weight than most too. I'm very happy with it, there is no service center near me however.
