Nantucket Sounder, Old School Bronze Sounder, New

The Nantucket Sounder is a beautiful depth sounding line, with a three pond weight. It's cast with a hexagonal cross section, with cast lettering in the side. There is a star shaped cavity in the bottom that can be used to take a bottom sample {ie sand}. It's attached to 60' of dacron braid, which can be knotted at different intervals as desired. Comes with a Tan Sunbrella sea bag with Nantucket Sounder printed in red, and instructions {though this is as low tech as it gets....been used for centuries}. It will never malfunction, cease to work due to electrical gremlins, or give false readings due to junk in the water.

This one has never been used. Like new, other than some tarnishing on the bronze which will rub off with Brasso, or something similar. They sell for $90 plus shipping {it weighs 5 lbs for shipping} new. I'd like $50, including shipping. I think it will cost me about $15 to ship. PayPal OK.

PM if you'd like me to take more pics. Great gift that works. Fun to use with kids. Seamanship of yesteryear! Or leave on a shelf in your den or office. Thanks.

Before you jump on me, too much, I sold it....or more accurately GAVE IT....to my brother in law, who saw it in my office this afternoon. I had two of them, both given to me as gifts when I bought a pretty sizeable sailboat some years ago. One from the broker, one from the chandlery that did all of my electronics work. The other one was listed yesterday and sold on another forum. I had that one in my office to pack and ship. My BIL saw it, and remarked that it was very cool. He has little kids, so I told him that I had another. My gift. He'll probably give me a bottle of Mt. Gay. Sorry if this breaks any rules. If it does, then perhaps we need new rules for inter-family "sales." I didn't think of asking him to join SOL, then post to follow the rules, as he doesn't fish. A sailor. I've learned my lesson with other sales when I've had people PMing instead of posting.

I probably should have come up with another posting, such as "item listed now withdrawn from consideration."

Sorry.
