Does anyone know where I can buy some clambrella rigs? I have tried many local B&Ts but they just look at me funny. And while your at it where should I fish? Can someone tell me a good spot in Ocean County?

Clambrellas are only made in the spring and usually sell out before July first.

A lot of bass fisherman make their own Clambrellas so they get more of a custom feel for them.

As to where to use one if you happen to find one, well thats simple - use it in areas where the Clams school up.cwm40.gif

Take a shot at making your own, find an old small umbrella, usually the folding ones are best. Remove all the material so only the metal is exposed. Next, remove the main shaft (hacksaw it off at the hub) once you do this the you'll notice that the piece remaining to the hub is hollow. Screw a eye hook into the opening. a 5mm size will do. Attached snaps to all the spokes using the holes already in place. Attach main line to barrel to 50lb mono to the eye hook & 3 0 hooks to each snap & bait up.

The best thing about this rig is it will fold up on the cast and open once it hits the water and settles down. Hold on tight!

I hope no one gives me any heat for offering this up.

This should be posted in the "Do it yourself" forum.

But I have to commend you on the design. I know it's a pain but I drill small holes into the edges of the clam shells with my cordless drill. I then run the mono directly through the holes. It really helps keeping the clams on the hook when trolling at high speeds. It also helps keep the weighted side of the clam down allowing for a more natural presentation. Most umbrellas have 7 spokes. I found some umbrellas with 8 spokes so I picked up a few. I think it will increase my odds
