surfcollector
Looks like they've hit the website...just wondering if anyone's gotten theirs and if they have feedback. I know how much chatter there was leading up to this. Just curious.
MD51
The maj. of these rods haven't hit the shelves yet. They should be avail. by the 20th - 28th of this month. As well can anyone comment on Rod Actions for these? I bottom fish/soak bait vs pluggin so would the following be correct? Moderate Action = Soaking Bait Mod. Fast Action = Plugging / lures Or Vice Versa?
James3shin
I bottom fish/soak bait vs pluggin so would the following be correct? Moderate Action = Soaking Bait Mod. Fast Action = Plugging / lures Or Vice Versa? Typically that is correct but the people using pencil poppers tend to like a slower actioned tip/rod. By the way, you can use a Fast actioned rod bait fishing as well. It's all a matter of what the person is most comfortable with.
wingsandwater
Do a search, there was a thread on this and sombody was testing the rods for st. croix and gave it great reviews. MD51
I talked to Rich & St. Croix about this question - engineers @ Croix stated that for soaking bait = mod. action. I've done d' research. Just boils down to personal pref. I guess. Just wondering what everyone else thinks.
Tfisher
hit the beach this past weekend and got to try out a "St. Croix Premier" (fellow SOL bud) and WOW ! Thing threw bombers like nobodies business . . . . .. gotta get me a St. Croix Professional Novice
TNT
The mod action is a better plugin rod and not bad for clamin or wormin. The fast action is better for jigs rubber shads in some current.Swiss and I have been fishin the proto's since april.
Gmofftarki
Local store-owner was given a rod to play with by St. Croix. Found it impossible to load, and not worth the extra buck fitty compared with the Lami Super Surf. I haven't had the chance to try it personally, so this is all hearsay, but: TNT: What would you say is a 'realistic' lure weighting for the two different rods? rocket500
The price on those is off the charts nuts. I'd go full custom for that kind of bank.

rocket500
$400 give or take a few bucks depending on length.
MattyS.I
Just checked out the website. Very expensive for factory rods, although no more expensive than the factory Lami SuperSurf. You'd never know the state of the economy by the cost of high-end fishing tackle!!
Kalispimenta
YES $400, and the blanks go for $250,so $250+$100 for guides+$ for material=more then $400,assuming you are wrapping it yourself ,if not....about the "do a search and find info..." the posts were made by people that help develop the rod, they didn't pay +$400 for the rod ,therefore their opinion (without offending anyone) will of course benefit st. Croix and not us. I own a St. Croix and i want the Legend but i also want to hear from someone that actually paid for the rod, full price, someone like me,just a regular fishermen. MD51
Rich & TNT helped develop these rods - its not like they were given d' rods to keep forever. How are their opinions going to benefit St. Croix? I believe Rich is buying the Legend(s) with his hard earned money. If the rods sucked - they would have stated that & told everyone to stay away from em. They are regular fishermen who helped develop a product for us - so basically they are made for us (fishermen) by us (fishermen). Custom Rods don't come with Lifetime Warranty's. $400-$450 is justifiable for a lifetime product. rocket500
Lamiglas factory rods, with the exception of the Surf Kings, also come with a lifetime warranty. So does the Shimano rod, and I'm pretty sure some of the Daiwas (in fairness Daiwa also makes a $400 surf rod). Still, I don't think the lifetime warranty is really a "wow" feature. Now if the rod is really way better than anything out there maybe we can talk. Would have to fish it to know.
