The maj. of these rods haven't hit the shelves yet. They should be avail. by the 20th - 28th of this month.

As well can anyone comment on Rod Actions for these? I bottom fish/soak bait vs pluggin so would the following be correct?

Moderate Action = Soaking Bait

Mod. Fast Action = Plugging / lures

Or Vice Versa?

Typically that is correct but the people using pencil poppers tend to like a slower actioned tip/rod. By the way, you can use a Fast actioned rod bait fishing as well. It's all a matter of what the person is most comfortable with.

Local store-owner was given a rod to play with by St. Croix.

Found it impossible to load, and not worth the extra buck fitty compared with the Lami Super Surf.

I haven't had the chance to try it personally, so this is all hearsay, but:

TNT: What would you say is a 'realistic' lure weighting for the two different rods?

YES $400, and the blanks go for $250,so $250+$100 for guides+$ for material=more then $400,assuming you are wrapping it yourself ,if not....about the "do a search and find info..." the posts were made by people that help develop the rod, they didn't pay +$400 for the rod ,therefore their opinion (without offending anyone) will of course benefit st. Croix and not us. I own a St. Croix and i want the Legend but i also want to hear from someone that actually paid for the rod, full price, someone like me,just a regular fishermen.biggrin.gif

Rich & TNT helped develop these rods - its not like they were given d' rods to keep forever. How are their opinions going to benefit St. Croix? I believe Rich is buying the Legend(s) with his hard earned money. If the rods sucked - they would have stated that & told everyone to stay away from em. They are regular fishermen who helped develop a product for us - so basically they are made for us (fishermen) by us (fishermen).

Custom Rods don't come with Lifetime Warranty's. $400-$450 is justifiable for a lifetime product.

Lamiglas factory rods, with the exception of the Surf Kings, also come with a lifetime warranty. So does the Shimano rod, and I'm pretty sure some of the Daiwas (in fairness Daiwa also makes a $400 surf rod). Still, I don't think the lifetime warranty is really a "wow" feature. Now if the rod is really way better than anything out there maybe we can talk. Would have to fish it to know.
