So, my fiance' and I are out fishing yesterday... A guy comes strolling onto the beach in chest waders with his beach cart... Sets up and wades out to his waist to make his cast... I says to fiance'... That guys got the dealio' goin'... She says...I bet you want waders too... I says... Yup! I do!cwm27.gif When we get home...she goes online looking at them..cwm40.gif She says... she doesn't know whats what and I said neither do I... So she says...find what I want and she'll get them for me for christmasbiggrin.gif. So, that leads me to....

I need maximum comfort, So I was thinking about the stocking feet and boots.

I was looking the Cabela's, Hodgman, and Simms. What is the best bang for the buck for around 200.00 ? Should I go with the boot style? If I do... How do I know size 14 boots will fit my waist? I'm a big guy. Can you guys that wear them give me opinions and try to steer me down the right road? I'm lost with these. Do I need to go to local sporting goods stores and try different ones on? Thanks!

Lol @ "that guy's got the dealio goin"...

"I need maximum comfort, So I was thinking about the stocking feet and boots"...You would probably find max comfort with stockingfoots, as you stated. Although Im plenty comfy in my bootfoots. And I plug for a good amt of hrs (4-8) at times. Try both on, if you can.

"What is the best bang for the buck for around 200.00 ? Should I go with the boot style?" Thats a good range for waders, imo. From personal experience, I gotta go with the LL Bean emergers. (I have the bootfoot version). Theyre comfy & have held up great (knock on wood). Cant forget about the lifetime warranty. And yes, it really is a REAL warranty. Some guys have no problems with sand/rocks getting into their boots wearing the stockingfoots...while others do. With bootfoot, theres no chance at all. With that said, w/ the stockings, theres a wide array of boots to choose from.

If theres an LL bean store near you, go try em on. If not, you can always exchange them no problem.

LLbean has been good to me. Lifetime guarantee. Take a look at Emerger bootfoots on there website. Built better than most and you can have them replaced when they wear out. i'm good for one replacement pair a year. There 5mm neoprenes are superb too but there strictly for spring/fall/winter as you'll cook in them if you do any amount of walking. Used to do the cheapo 2 pair a season thing till i smartened up.

I had stocking foot waders, never again. I couldn't deal with the sand build up around the ankles. I guess if you can find boots that can stop sand from entering them you'll be ok. BTW, the sand guard didn't do anything for me. I go boot foot now. I have a pair of 3MM Bone Dry that are Titanium lined. They are tougher and no so thick as to get you sweating before you even hook a fish.

I just got Bass-Pro Bone Dry/Red Head boot foot waders w/ felt soles about a month ago. I love them. I too am a full-figured guy redface.gif and they fit great. Though I ordered them on-line and got a size 12, I had to ship them back to get a 13. Took about a week and a half to get them. $89.95, $100 w/ s&h.
