Sudsy
Sand eels are back so riggies are hot again You need to match the head to the current and the size of the eel so you can swim it just off the bottom at a slow to moderate speed. TimS
I like the hogy double wide Not for nuttin', but that's not a "rigged eel", not even by a stretch - it's a soft stick bait, a large Sluggo like stick bait - a "rigged eel" is a real or rubber eel rigged on a tin (sometimes lead) head or "wobble plate" that imparts an eel like wiggle to the rubber or real eel on the back A sluggo or hogy is not a rigged eel, they are soft stick baits - just trying to clarify mfm22 - nobody sells pre-rigged real eels that I know of - the cost and time of rigging reel eels and their short shelf life make it very prohibitive. You can buy rigged rubber eels here in the online store - Ultimus heads and Ultimus eels, rigged by me. Not sure how much longer they are gonna be available, it's too time consuming and cost prohibitive, even to rig rubbers ones for retail TimS Show someone how to catch striped bass and they'll be ready to fish anywhere. mfm22
Tim I have done the sluggo rigging and tried fishing them with little success. I never felt confident fishing them . Put a live eel out there and I feel like no fish can resist . Figured A rigged eel may be close to live eel and more convienent

Luds48
I fish a lot of live eels. Often this season my buddy was fishing a rigged eel right next to me. I caught caught more fish but he almost always landed the largest.
