wshot
I need one rod for raritan bay and one for deeper water. Any suggestions? thanks wshot
chicky
why does it have to be a lami? Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat. nfnDrum
Why lamiglas? Spin or Casting? ... Gloomis Bucara or Problue all the way. They are just awsome rods ...
CaseyGhee
Hi, Look into the Lami GBT 84 series 1L, 1M, and 1H. The 1L is great for fluke w/ 10# mono (or your choice of braid) w/20-30# 6' mono shocker, (PB 13.5# off Quonny in 12ft of water). The two heavier models are good for deeper water and heavier line. PB on a codfish using GBT 84 w/Newell and 30# Dacron, was 28# on the Indian out of Kennebunkport. One caution, do not try to swing the fish into the boat using the rod, gaff, net, or grab the shocker. The finer tips on these rods will not take the dead weight of a larger fish. Best I can say is, light , powerful and guaranteed for life. Go get 'em. Casey Ghee
wshot
Why Lami? I can get them at good discount prices. I may consider looking at the pro blue as well. thanks wshot
Lamiglasmike
why does it have to be a lami? What!!! They all should be Lami's. LOL I use the Tri-Flex Graphite Inshore. TFX 7020C and the TFX 7030C for deeper water. Great action rods. http://www.lamiglas.com/prod_indiv.php?groupid=53 I have Avet SX's on all of them!. tbyrne
I like the Inshore Classic series.
Mike
I have an Inshore Classic and a few Triflex 7025 and 7030 rods. I reach for the Triflex rods 9 times out of 10. If you get a discount, compare that to the SOL price. It's the best discount I've been able to find and I look pretty hard for good prices. I have BL series rods but now I would get the TFX series with the cork handles just because I like cork. "Depend not on fortune, but on conduct." wshot
I prefer the cork handles too. I will look into the triflex inshore rods. Thanks
striperondafly
for deepwater flukin I use a lami bmb1143f cut to 8'6" and an Avet SX. Such a sweet setup I am building three more this winter. Great tog blank too - nice parabolic action. Learn to Swim...
vinnyb
Built a few ocean fluking rods for some friends last winter on CGBT 84 1M blank - sweet rods. It's a triflex blank & the composite construction gives a nice soft feel when using braid, yet plenty of lifting power. The factory rod would be the BL 7030 (foam grips) or the TFX 7030 (cork grips). Fluke Jr
i have to chime in and agree with the 7020 TFX for the raritan bay. rods good up to 6-8 ounces, but 2-4 is its wheelhouse. depends how deep youre talking, 10-12 ounces the TFX 7040 is probably perfect, although the 7030 might work. the inshore classic is another nice rod. i have the spinning IC70MH. good for 1-4 ounce bucktails, i use it for some light action striper action too. they have a ML version of the rod if you want a little lighter action
Scoundrel
I'll second the Vote for the Lami Tri-Flex 7025. Can handle inshore and deepwater.
