numba1golfa
i had to make the hardest decision of my life they other day. that was to pack up and call it quits or fish through the pain. i tore my rotator cuff in my right shoulder and it hurts to cast i cant even trout fish thats how bad it is. im so upset just wanted to vent. im only 24, this shouldnt be happening. i am missing out on great fishing but the way i see it i wll get better for opening up next striper season. maybe ill have better luck. wich me luck in getting better cuz this is miserable. no one wants to stop fishing, i would give up anything else over this. good luck to all hope your season was better than mine

ToddMan
I was thinking the same thing. Fishing decisions are not to be compared to life decisions. But that being said, it is difficult to hang it up for the winter months. <*)))><Stan Gibbs Cape Cod Canal Fishermans Classic

I injured my knee severly last november (and I was only 25) and had to call it quits for the season. Still isn't 100% and I think a big reason for that is I stopped rehab & excercising once the spring run got underway. It definitely affected my fishing as I wasn't able to stand for long periods of time or walk long distances. If you're fishing a lot maybe you should do some strength training excercises for your arms & upper body. You want this injury to heal and be strong and not becoming a naggin problem that gets worse evey year.....

atomb
24 years old you have many fishing days ahead - and their will be a hell of a lot harder decisions to make in your future. Rest and heal there are plenty of learning related things to fishing to keep you busy in the off time.

numba1golfa
i am in physical therapy now and may need surgeyr if it doe not get better i am glad it happened in the end of the season but its a bummer cuz it happened in trout season and right before salmon fishing starts for me but i wll be better by april i hope so i can catch the big ones that come to the herring run by neck of the woods. thanks for all your words of wisdom i know many of you have gone through injuries. its just a downer when the fish are biting and theres nothing you can do about it but read and hear reports from friends and fellow fisherman. you know what i mean. Angler #1
have done damage to the rotary and it is not repairable by therapy and a normal healing process, You may have a long term affect that will only get much worst as you age. If surgury is needed, you should remain on the therapy prescribed by the Surgeon and make sure you fully explain that you fish a great deal so that he can design the therapy around all the movement you would do while fishing. One needs to prevent athritic lock up in the joint long term and my suggestion as you are so young, would be to seriously look at having it repaired Laproscopacally. If you choose to get it done now you will be ready to fish in the spring when the first bass show up. No I am not a Doctor, but I have had many personal related such problems and speak with a little on hands experience.
