Punk Freud
guernseybass, Three questions perhaps you can help with? Since us Yanks don't get much useful info about the rest of the world I'm very curious about your thoughts on these matters Do you have any insights that may focus my understanding. First, LSE, still relevant on the international stage and are they pro/con in support of public vs private economic interests. Think of this in context of the Bush's "ownership society". Second, Fabians, still relevant and do their activities still reflect the original intent of the society? Third, does Labor maintain any significant tie with the Fabians? Punk Freud
LOL... at so many levels. Wasn't really interesting in yet another pointless opinion. But since you had to chime in, how about fielding the questions yourself. Three basic questions, and since there are "so many levels" this shouldn't take much effort on your part. Punk Freud
You saying GB is a sock puppet BTW, wiki won't tie these questions together coherently. Thanks actually, you got me on these PF. LSE - ? surely you don't mean the London School of Economics. whilst a hotbed of radical economics in the 1970's and 1980s which was more a reaction to thatcherism, i don't think they ever expressed official policies as a collective ??? the Fabians - haven't even heard them mentionend since the early 1990's when John Smith effectively broke the union bloc vote at Labours Conference, and so created New Labour. which also ended the influence of Militant, and the Socialist Workers Party. whose members were actually outlawed by party rules bottome line - the lefties got purged so a moderate Labour party could oust the Tories after 18 years. the SWP are still trying to influence the party but only at the Fringes. Punk Freud
Thanks GB That reply was enough. I was looking into a book The Scientific Study of Society, by Max Steuer The back story led into those other tangents... rascally 60's radicals Seems those folks have been sidelined since then. Thankfully, the infrastructure, the "acoustic space" they built is still available... the Medium is the Message Cheers.
