sicboy
Hi, I did a search on the forum to see what people use to lube their bogas but couldn't really find anything. Mine gets dunked a lot. I rinse it in fresh water after every outing, but I was wondering what kind of lubricants you recommend to keep it working like new? Tiderunr
After a fresh water rinse, WD-40 does the trick. Jim C.LIBBA - MSA - ASC' You can tune a piano, but you can't Tuna fish"
Sudsy
WD40 gums up over time I take mine apart a few times a year and wipe it down with penetrating oil, let it sit for a little bit and wipe it off - 4 years no issues. It's underwater all the time also and I never rinse it down except when I fish in the rain. Charleston
Wd-40 is great right after the rinse. Wd-40 is a water displacement fluid but not a real good lubricant. I wipe mine with 3 in 1 oil after it's dry. I am old but I'm slow.
AdrianF
i've just been washing it off in the surf. 4 years or so and its still works...somehow. truly amazing tool. How do you take it apart? re-ban quest
FishAgain
I think once in awhile I spray mine with something, but basically just use it. Its indestructable. Mine is 15 y/o and it looks brand new
sicboy
Thanks for the quick responses. People always talk about how Bogas are indestructible, and I've been really impressed with them. I just don't trust saltwater though. I picked mine up today and for some reason they didn't feel smooth anymore when I opened them. I hit the moving parts with some 3 in 1 oil and that loosened it up. I keep the bogas on my wading belt which is usually submerged or getting sprayed with salt. I guess I was asking if there is a good lubricant for saltwater environments that you guys would recommend.
