Wurk2Fish
where do you guys put your fish if you have no place on your yak to put them? i only have a small amount of space on the back of mine and thats where my milkcrate is. do you just put them on a stringer and over the side? In a frying pan!!! Na.....wondering the same thing myself.....if I don't have my 50 qt. igloo onboard for smaller fish...let's say some big girls......30 some inches or more.....I've rigged up a stringer to go over and have also ordered more bungee rigging cord to zig-zag my back well better and slide em under after givin' 'em the club. There's pics of guys with fish in their back well under bungees as well as on riggers...or next to their legs......get creative!!! Oh....guess I should say...haven't put one in the Yak YET!!! HJS
I use a 16' canoe and a mid-sized cooler behind the seat is not a problem. It'll hold stripers up to about 25". Anything bigger is released. The first casualty of War, Politics, and now Covid is the truth.
Pier_man0909
usually in a small cooler with ice or just on a stringer off the side. I pull them in and put on my lap while paddling because fish overboard create a lot of drag. I want to get an insulated bag that I can put inside my kayak. seadogface
I've never used a crate & can not understand why anyone else does. why drag along every thing you own for 4 to 6 hours? really how many planos do you need? Do you really cycle though that many plugs? You should know what bait fish are around during any particular part of the season and bring the appropriate lures. At the most I'll have 1 plano & a small white bucket. Sure there are things you will always need, Pre tied leaders room & spare terminal tackle, snagging hook, some sluggos ect = not much room. I don't get it. I have never said oh crap I wish I had that "whatever" sweetheart
carl4x4
I put my catch on a game clip. It's a very large snap. It then tied off.The fish is always fresh at the end of the trip. I wish I could trim down some of the crap I cary around, but I think I would still use a crate. I carry a flare gun, and safety kit, first aide kit, to much tackle, lunch, a couple of waters, lipgrip, atleast two rods, and a flag/light. All in the crate. One trip. seadogface, Is that and Al's tube in the bucket? I'm a big fan of the tube/worm myself. I found that live worms work the best, and the 8" gulps come in a close second. It's been my most productive lure.
seadogface
ya that is an Al's B&T tube (Santini\\FisnFinatics a close 2nd) I'm a meat fisherman so that is where my priority lies. So I take the time my distribute gear within easy reach. I never have to think about where something is because it's leashed to the same spot all the time most safety equipment is in or on my pfd (marine radio, flares, knife, compass, a bit of surgical tubing for arterial spurts ) crates are good I guess, just not for meat heads like me. Sorry for the negative waves. sweetheart
wasy
thank you guys. you kayaks are about ten times nicer then the other guys in the forum lol especially the new jersey part haha. i have a small islander kayak now that cant track for its life and is only about 11 feet. Im wanting to get a new kayak before next summer. something with peddels, and tracks better and is just an all around decent kayak. Kill em and Grill em!
