bigpapamd1
what is the best 50lb braid you have used for bottom fishing offshore for sea bass, lings, etc.... i like tuf-line xp. im willing to give the new fireline braid a chance since im a fan of fireline for its strength & sensitivity!! "BORN TO FISH" but "FORCED TO WORK"
diklarsen
i honestly dont think it really matters for bottom fishing. i do love suffix for casting but since i dont cast when im bottom fishing i usually go with powerpro cuz its cheaper. I DONT KNOW IF YOU KNOW THIS BUT AFTER ALL THIS TIME ................. IM STILL KIND OF A BIG DEAL.

stresst
Go with suffix, its the best for the money. Â Power pro is good as you dont get a bad batch with mysterious breakoffs which has been happening more and more. I have used it for years without any problems. But if you visit offshore sites you will see its junk!

Jmoney
do yourself and the people around you a favor when you pick a braid for party boat fishing. get a hi-vis braid like white or yellow or pink or whatever suits your fancy. just not the "camo green". you should be using a mono leader anyway and the visibility can save you some nasty tangles. Â Â Â I had been using suffix green for a long time, I just came across Orange suffix, its the most visibleline ever made great for PB's
Dave A
I like Momoi Diamond Braid and Daiwa Dendoh Boat Braid. Found both to be very consistent and very strong. I also use the Daiwa for tuna jigging.
Deezz2
I like sufix braid. casts well and seems to hold the uni well. Had a snag with 50lb green sufix with a 30lb stainless leader and the leader broke like it should have. The braid still had the swivel intact. I picked up 300yrds of Daiwa Samurie 40lb last week. Amazing stuff. Much thinner than same poundage of other brands. And super smooth. I believe they use an 8 thread weave hence the roundness. Casts very nice. Exspensive stuff though. I also have used fireline and Pline Spextrex V. not so impressed.

Sea papi
Spiderwire® Stealth™ Braid has mono manageability and body, but has the ultra thin diameter, superior strength, and ultimate sensitivity that you are looking for in a premium braided line.the offshore bottom fishing trips on PB are normally lest crowded so with plenty of room to work line color is optional. Longislandguy
How much mono backing should I put on a Newell 229, if I'm putting on 50lb braid?
DaveTats
I guess it would depend on the diameter of the mono and how many yards of braid you plan on using.
mickrazz
How much mono backing should I put on a Newell 229, if I'm putting on 50lb braid? Â Â On any reel I put on about three or four layers of mono, just enough so the braid doesn't slip on the spool. I use 220 newells, which have less capacity than a 229, so you might want to put on a little more, then I put on 150 yds of braid. Thats enough for togging. You might want more braid for deep c-bassing. The Magnificent Presence
