mack1703
I recently picked up a Lami 136 1mh from a member of this site. He had the rod personalized with his initials M.J.D. My initials are M.J.M. I was wondering if it is a big deal to change the D to a M? Would I have to redo all the letters? Can I keep the picture of the Bass? Thanks in advance for your replies. canyondiver
If the letters are decals, you can stick one over the letter you need changed and put another coat of finish on the butt wrap. Proud to be a NERB and I have the shirts to prove it!!

I know nothing about rod building so please excuse my lack on knowledge. What kind of finish should I use and how is it applied?
billfishhead
id ask the guy you got it from if he knows how they were done. might be prstype,,,,,,rub on letters,,,,,,,,,if so you may need to paint the letter black then apply another. he may even have the sheet of lettering it came from. otherwise an office supply store for lettering

Al Goldberg
This is an easy fix. First gently sand that entire butt wrap with 600 grit paper to dull the finish. Clean the area with iso alcohol and paper towels to remove any residue. Then wrap over the letters with size "A" black thread and apply a thin coat of finish to the thread. Let the finish cure for 48 hours and apply new letters with "dry transfer lettering" like Letraset. Coat the letters with a thin coat of finish only covering the thread wraps. Let dry and then apply another coat of finish to the entire butt wrap. If you do not have a drying motor than find yourself a local rodbuilder that can do it for you for a small fee. PM me for additional info.
