albacized
...and it got off the hook, but you were still able to retreive it before it could swim away, is that a catch in your proverbial book?
Eric_S
Absolutely. You hooked it and got it to a place where you were able to retrieve it. Sounds like a catch to me.

levari
You can always hook the fish back and take a picture before you release it.

Wiseguy
If you were the fish, would it matter? Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference. ~Author unknown, attributed to Mark Twain
albacized
I agree with you guys - I'm just comparing our thoughts to the way (I believe) the IFGA would consider - which I think would be a no catch unless the leader hit the tip of the rod
Apexkeeper
I unhook my fish without taking them out of the water.... does that mean I've never caught a fish?

maineskiff
Back in the late 70's while living in Telluride CO.( In the woods as there wasn't any affordable housing) We would go down to this boggy area by a creek and "flip" cut throats out of the water with our hands. Damn fine meal. This was when the town still had dirt streets and it was just starting to build up. And yes, we said we caught dinner.

BassAddict
It is not a caught fish cuz you were not the one who chose to release it. It got away before you had it in your possession or control. The New SOL - All Love All The Time!
