John Purser
http://www.mcclatchydc.com/251/story/55471.html "Employment has fallen by 1.2 million in the first 10 months of 2008; over half of the decrease has occurred in the past three months," the Bureau of Labor Statistics report says. "In October, job losses continued in manufacturing, construction and several service-providing industries." Our economy is losing jobs like this while we've got a very low fed rate, two hot wars, and we're still using the Bush "Tax Cuts". The first two are economic stimuli and the third is often hailed as one. We're already doing massive deficit spending and the fed is almost out of maneuver room. I hope they take this lame duck session and do something meaningful with it. I think waiting until January to get moving on a real solution will be a disaster. Of all the preposterous assumptions of humanity over humanity, nothing exceeds most of the criticisms made on the habits of the poor by the well-housed, well-warmed, and well-fed. - Herman Melville

If we don't do something before the democrats get carte blanche in january, we're all going to be swimming up schittcreek with lead boots.

I don't think that's what John meant Robert, but you can always keep picking at open sores if you like! Proud to be a NERB and I have the shirts to prove it!! I've had similar thoughts in the last week (in either case of victory) that whomever took the reigns was getting a runaway team headed for a cliff. I'm wondering when they are going to run out of rabbits (mutli-billion dollar vail outs) to pull out of the hat? The ripples from our dislocations have already caused alot of grief across the globe. Robert Williams
I don't think that's what John meant Robert, but you can always keep picking at open sores if you like! My bad. Re-reading it, seems he's thinking along the lines of raising taxes immediately in order to jump-start the economy. And since the dems are hell bent on applying their "tax the country into prosperity" plan, might as well take that pill and get it over with. The sooner it helps us hit rock bottom the sooner we'll have no direction but up to go.
Plugged
I think John is trying to stir the pot with a spoon made of BS - his simple posts proves that he lacks the basic understanding of the situation - but keep on trucking with it - say it often enough and you might actually begin to believe yourself. John Purser
My apologies for posting on a real issue during your mourning psychosis. But as noted in my post we really can't afford to wait until you're feeling better. That's pretty humorous.

John Purser
Well, Bush got the tax cuts. We got a weak economy (even with low interest rates and two hot wars which are real stimuli). And we're stuck with Trillions in debt. 30 years of faith in "Tax cuts are GOOD for you!" and we've got an impoverished nation to show for it. Reality has come a knockin boys. Time to answer the door. Slacker
Is the point of this thread that we should raise taxes? If not, please state the point.
Robert Williams
OK, John. Just for schitts and giggles, let's explore this. You've got the answer, now show your work. Show us your rationale for asserting there is a causal effect between the tax cuts and the current economic woes. Connect the dotted lines. I'm ready for you to educate me. Plugged
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa not able to poke holes in anything specific - you just looking to rant and blow off steam or deal in facts- so far it just looks like a little keyboard jockeying to me. Thats why we should cut taxes even further.
