mako20ft
Good morning, as much as I like my Browning pliers the cloth sheath is a piece of crap. Anyone have an old(er) leather piece...be great if it had the outside pocket for a small knife. The Browning's are 6" long with smaller side cutters. Don't need perfection, just serviceable. Thanks Dutch The wheels on my reels go round and round...round and round...round and round...
126andy
Yaou can pick them up at Sears stores for $6.00. I just got one for my 6 1/2" Manley pliers. I saw that they had some there that had the pockets in front for a knife. My short-term memory is not as sharp as it used to be. Also, my short-term memory's not as sharp as it used to be. mako20ft
Funny, it's the spring clip that drives me nuts with the Brownings. I'll check out Sears but in the meantime would love to hear if anyone's got a leather sheath not doing them any good. mako20ft
That's a pretty decent offer. Those look perfect with Manleys or similar but the Browning's are more pointed in design (I'm looking at them now). I think they'd just slosh around because of the pocket width. I appreciate it but I'll need to keep looking. Dutch The wheels on my reels go round and round...round and round...round and round...
126andy
Good luck Dutch. If you should come across anything with the spring clip that the 6 1/2" Manleys will fit into keep me mind My short-term memory is not as sharp as it used to be. Righty
Don't have anything for you, but the Abel plier sheath fit the Brownings nicely.
mako20ft
Don't have anything for you, but the Abel plier sheath fit the Brownings nicely. No doubt they are sweet; I've been checking them out online. Just seems that I'm tossing $40 away though. Maybe it's me but I keep thinking someone's gonna remember a dusty corner of their basement that's got a leather treasure looking for some sunshine. flysnplugs
Dutch You might want to try this with one of those inexpensive Lowes or Home D. sheaths. I've done this wet forming when making knife sheaths.I was looking for a sheath for Manley pliers. I found an old leather sheath for the API pliers. I closed the pliers & wrapped them in plastic wrap. Then I wet the sheath with warm water until it was soaked and pliable, I really soaked just the front of the sheath. I inserted the pliers in the sheath and then hand formed the leather to shape of the pliers. Left the pliers in the sheath and let dry for a day or so. Go back occasionally a press the leather into the pliers while drying. Then I took the pliers out and continued to let the sheath dry completely. Insert the pliers in the sheath and worked them in and out a few times. This will suffice for me until I make a Kydex sheath. Btw watch out for those metal sights when they come out.
