bassslinger
Finally! got the chance to do some fishing today for a couple hours. Great conditions out there - Fairly warm with a light breeze. I ended up catching 3 nice pickeral at about 3lbs each on a Red Eye Shad lipless crank bait & One decent Large Mouth around 2.5lbs on a Senko. I got broken off twice on what felt to be decent fish. My buddy caught one Bass on a White spinner bait. It was great to get out there and take advantage of the opportunity. I hope to get out again before I hang it up until spring. But I thought I would share the good news that they are still pretty active, you just have to find them...

mcafam
At the local pond for four hours today. Fish (bass and pickerel) chasing bait and working the weeds with alot of movement and topwater action. I threw white senko's, purple senko's, pumpkinseed 8 inch trick worms, shallow cranks (even manns baby minus 1) buzzbaits and several floating topwater. NOTHING!!! I floated, jerked, cranked hard, soft, pauses, no pauses, cast topwater into running bait fish, worked the weeds, dead sticked it, and not even one hit. Wow....maybe the season is over?! Apexkeeper
Went out today for a couple hours and got 6 in the 2-3 pound range and one around 4 pounds. They are there, just deep and lazy. I cheated though.
mcafam
The pond I was at is very weedy. Dragging the bottom with any weight just brings in dead plants. The only thing is a shallow crank or texas rigged plastic.
riverrunner
Remove the weeds.....cast again. "Sweet songs never last too long on broken radios" Sam Stone / John Prine
bassslinger
yeah I don't think its over just yet may need to adjust your presentation. It can be tough to stay patient and fish slow when you are seeing lots of activity. The lake I fish has a good amount of grass on the bottom in spots as well. If this is the case go with little or no weight at all. I had good luck this season with hula grubs on 1/8 oz jig head. Suspending jerk baits like the rapala huskey jerk should also be productive... mcafam
floating and suspending jerks were nill. I will pick up and try the hula grubs. thanks
Black Cloud
If the weeds are a problem just buy the gamakatzu jigheads that you can glue the weed guard into or just weedless heads
maddzz
The only thing I have had any luck with lately are tubes
mcafam
haven't tried tubes yet (but I will next year), the senko-texas rigged usually works in the local ponds here in ma. perhaps it's the shallow ponds I'm fishing, but even weedless doesn't work. they don't get hung up but they bring back alot of weed. I usually look for a little more open water but am limited now that the boat is away for the winter. I'm not complaining, just stating the frustration with alot of fish movement without any strikes. I do know I have to work on my patience. Dead sticking it is the hardest.
