oldgoat
Considering the amount of people that have to take a drug test for there job i think it would be a good idea for those on welfare to take a drug test as well.

Skitter
I picked the second choice Patrick but would add that there must be ways to cleanly and honestly qualify if someone applying is indeed worthy of welfare benefits. Tighten the parameters and make the oversight lean and mean. (*member formerly known as 'Skitterpop')
Patrick9915
get rid of it, and it might just FORCE those that live by it to GET A FRICKEN JOB You don't feel that there are people out there that have fallen on hard times because of circumstances out of their control? Patrick9915
Now I have a question with the people who want to keep it as it is now. You don't feel that the system as it stands now, allows wide scale abuse?
fishsticking
Keep Welfare but go after abuse but only if the money spent chasing abuse is less than what it would cost to pay the abusers How do you do this if you do not investigate to determine how much fraud there is? Once you do determine that there is fraud, why would it cost more to end the fraud that you found? If I could change Welfare, it would be simple: Everyone is entitled to receive welfare, directly based on what you need. There is a time limit of the benefits that you can receive. 5 years tops, if you need more than 5 years then you should be able to qualify for Social Security disability When you go back to work, you pay 5% of your income back to the welfare system, until you have paid back 100% of what you received. Once you do determine that there is fraud, why would it cost more to end the fraud that you found? Because each case of suspected fraud would need to be investigated. For that, you need more people. lichum
Considering the amount of people that have to take a drug test for there job i think it would be a good idea for those on welfare to take a drug test as well. So do many taxpayers supportive of drug testing of welfare recipients, for the purpose of ensuring they're ready for work, should an employment opportunity arise. Some Law firms and organizations that advocate for the poor, claim drug testing , to ensure readiness to work is discriminatory. They sue on that basis. "Who is John Galt?" Who? You? lichum
Overly abused. But if i broke a leg or went blind i would think it was the greatest If that happened to you (of course I hope it never does) I would think of payments/assistance to you as disability compensation/aid, not welfare.
