TatonkaJames
Did you know you can just type the name of a website in the URL and it will come up 99.9% of the time without typing www before and com after, just the name. If you just type Stripersonline it will come up to the website. Even though I've told this to everyone who I work with or outside of work, they still type the whole nine yards. I know I have a few. But it's sort of comical when you see others with it. One guy can only have one application open at a time. If he has his Outlook open and a job comes in and you ask him to open a file, he has to quit Outlook. Or if he's on Google, no matter how many sites he visits, he has to arrow back to the beginning Google webpage before closing it. I thought Howard Stern was bad, I didn't realize how many people have this and to what degree we all have it. Pretty cool except when it controls your life as I have seen on TV and that is not funny. Patrick9915
That doesn't sound like OCD to me. It sounds like they started using the internet somewhere around IE6. I think that's when it was implemented. On really old browsers, you had to put the whole thing in. You had to type out "http://www.blahblahblah......" That's how I learned. The guy with only one window open sounds like a few people I know. They just can't multi-task. On any given day, I could have 6 or 7 windows open. One of them being firefox with 4 or 5 tabs going. I really don't like it but it's necessary. I wouldn't call those actions OCD. I have a very mild form of OCD. I'm not like Monk or anything. I do see patterns in things and I can get irritated if one thing refuses to conform to that pattern or it doesn't have its own place.
TatonkaJames
I see what you're saying, it's more like you can't teach an old dog new tricks syndrome instead of OCD. "All The Worlds A Stooge"
Patrick9915
I see what you're saying, it's more like you can't teach an old dog new tricks syndrome instead of OCD. Exactly. It's a force of habit. I was in the habit of typing out http:// for the longest time. I have broken the habit but I still feel the urge to do it. Even typing it here, my fingers find the keys naturally. Like how your fingers find the keys to your password just a little faster than the rest of your typing. I would say it's more OCD if they were told they could no longer put www in and it somehow caused issues with their day to day functioning. To me, it seems like they're just going with what they feel comfortable with but with no effect on the rest of their lives.
CHIEF500
One of mine is checking for keys getting out of the jeep on the beach ever since locking the keys inside. Hell, it usually takes me a few minutes to find it and I put it there. Hell, it usually takes me a few minutes to find it and I put it there. True story. My brother had a habit of locking his keys in his car. So he got one of those magnet thingies. Plus another spare key that he always kept in the house. I came home one night and he's running around the car, lunatic style. Yep- all three keys are locked in the vehicle. I look like a lunatic patting myself down making sure I have it, them. I have a fear of dropping my keys in the sewer drains in parking lots, especially if I still have my keys in my hand. Don't ya know one day while at our office in pittsburg, I went out to my car to smoke. I inadvertently put my keys between my legs. Forgot they were there when I got out of the car and they fell, right down the sewer drain. You know it must be a penguin bound down if you hear that terrible screaming and there ain't no other birds around.
