Where the hell did that go?

How many times have you put something down, and lost it 22 seconds later? Obviously the tie off loops and razorblades are common, but what else?

I ws just sanding down a few grips on finished rods. Had the vaccum going, picked up most of the EVA & Hypalon dust. When I was done I vacuum'd up the rest. Washed my hands, grab Thumbburners rods, go to glue the tip tops on them. What the hell. I had them right there a minute a go in a baggie. I look everywhere, pockets, drawers, floor - no sign of them. Now I'm pissed off becaue I just waited for this order for 3 weeks (was waiting for blanks, asked to be shipped complete no backorder).

I start putting all the sandpaper away, kick the vacuum cleaner across teh shop....open teh vacuum cleaner up and there they are. I wonder what else I've vacuum'd up over the years.

Burnishing tool , small guides and tip tops , wire ties (I'll loose the whole bag not just one) , on a rod with several colors or verigated thread I always misplace one color , My thread bobbins , .............

I once drove 45 miles each way to get a set of guides and a tip for a rush job rod. I got home with the guide set about 2 PM and at 7 that night they were no where to be found. We are all scatter brains sometimes.

Billy you had better laugh because it doesn't get better. My wife sent me down town and when i got there i couldn't,t remember what the h#ll it was i was sent after. Then a young, good looking woman grabs me by the arm and walks me across the street. Now i,m really P#*st because i not only can,t remember what i was sent for but because i,m on the wrong side of the street.

  • 2 weeks later...

wrenches ... nuts ... bolts ... screws ... drag washers ... other assorted small and large reel parts ... keys ... WD 40 ... fork ... spoon ... hat ... pen/pencil ... and it don't take anywhere close to 22 seconds - sometimes 1 or 2 seconds or less is plenty of time redface.gif

Dude that happens to me ALL the time when I am building. I think building rods over the last year has made me forgetfull. there is nothing I have not misplaced or forgot where I put while building. Once I was looking for my sharpie to mark off some guides, looked all over the desk top. Stop for a second and thought"what the hell am I looking for?" there is was in my hand headscratch.gif

I have a stash of blanks in the corner of my shop. I was rummaging through them to find the blank for my next build. I checked through them at least seven times "What the he!!" I'm getting angry at this point so I start looking through the invoices to check if it came in and it did headscratch.gif Spend another half hour digging through the pile finally got frustrated and went to shut off the shop lights............... Aha! YUP right where I left it in the wrapper redface.gifkooky.gif

View PostI once looked all over for my glasses....I found them after 15 minutes...on top of my head.

Did that with my hat. Had it on backwards. Kicking things all over the house with an attitude and my wife just looking at me like I should be comitted. I said "What's your problem ?" She just told me that I would find it sooner or later and laughed at me.

ive been building rods so long i got extra boxes laying around,,,,,,,,,,,with a wide marks a lot i label the boxes,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,fly rod,,,,,,spinning rod,,,,,,,,,,,trolling,,,,,,,,,,,,trout rod,,,,,,,,,,,x acto, burnishers and tape

leave those boxes right by the lathe and if i put something down i drop it in a box. after a while i end up with extra guide sets reel seats and everything i need to build a rod

i even have boxes full of thread for certain schools so i dont have to look around for that ONE color im always missing

boxes upon boxes upon boxes,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,kinda like a system, oh yeah i do label each and every box
