As said, you can also spray some Pledge on your rod and wipe it down. Also take the reel off your reel seat.If you cant take the reel apart have a B&T do it or at least apply some oil to the moving parts.Back out the screws and apply some oil or grease. However dont put your stuff away as the migrating fish will be coming your way.

I hope so. We haven't seen crap around here yet and it's getting late. I'm hoping to get at least two more outings before the weather gets too cold. I think the water needs to cool down a bit more before the fish really hit the surf.

I was just looking for some advice since I had some problems last year. My little plug reel was froze solid after one year on the beach. I was a little PO'ed about that one!

Tight lines, everyone! And if there's no tight lines, then Light Thighs everyone!beers.gif

Pricey doesn't mean better, but cheap is to the bone!

View Postloosen your drags I think.

It could be your drags.Loosen them up after each outing.Take them apart and clean them as it dosnt take too long before salt water corrosion starts and cements it.POst what kind of reel you have and maybe someone can help.

cwm31.gif This might ruin your wraps over time.

I would have to read the can to be sure, but either way, I think you are stating a light coat of oil is good. Oil can react with some finishes (it will mess up Crystal Coat for one), and if you have cracks in the finish (you will eventually if you do not already) it will "stain" the wraps

Please, just wash your rods with warm soapy water and rinse with fresh warm water. Dry with a soft cloth and put a coat of a good synthetic auto wax on the blank and guides. If you have a metal reel seat that is either aluminum or plated brass (like the old Lakeland's), wax that too.

I use Klasse All In One as my wax since I have it for my car.

Also, once you are cone servicing your reels, wax those too.

Another place for the wax, is on a new or empty spool. This will keep it from pitting or corroding from damp braid, or water trapped under your line.

John didnt know oil was in Pledge, cant read the fine print. You brought up a good point about the spool with wet braid on it or mono for that matter. So many times you see in the BST forum a reel for sale which had line on it for a period of time and now the spool has corrosion where the line was.

I thought Pledge was lemon oil and some other kind of oil to fill it out.

Do you have a can to look at the "secret ingredients"?
