Sudsy
Not in a sexually oriented way, we'll leave that mess out of it, but rather in a political process way. McGreevey was strictly a product of the NJ Democratic Machine, an "empty suit" He was placed in the position of figurehead based solely on looks and charisma and, because that's what counts most to the mob, he won the governorship in a state with a house and senate 100% controlled by the Democratic Machine. NJ went on to the most governmentally corrupt period of time in generations. This is all fact and can't be argued. Replace a few key words and it's possible we may see the future: Obama was strictly a product of the National Democratic Machine, an "empty suit" He was placed in the position of figurehead based solely on looks and charisma and, because that's what counts most to the mob, he won the Presidency with a house and senate 100% controlled by the Democratic Machine. The United States went on to the most governmentally corrupt period of time in generations. I'm hoping for the best, praying that Barak has the backbone to stand up for what's right and not do what the people who paid his way to the job tell him to do. My biggest fear is that the last sentence will come true. -------------------------------------------------------------- I'm going to reserve final judgment and back our new President Elect giving him the benefit of the doubt until he proves himself worthy of the job we have given him. However so far, based on his first major appointment, he's not starting off in an independent, change oriented manner - it's not looking good. The head of the National Democratic Machine, Rahm Emanuel, was just appointed Obamas chief of staff Some background on Emanuel: Emanuel is chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and is the chief fund raiser for the party. He is noted for his fund raising prowess (and money is power) He serves as Democratic Caucus Chair. On the night after the 1996 election, "Emanuel was so angry at the president's enemies that he stood up at a celebratory dinner with colleagues from the campaign, grabbed a steak knife and began rattling off a list of betrayers, shouting 'Dead! ... Dead! ... Dead!' and plunging the knife into the table after every name." His "take-no-prisoners attitude" earned him the nickname "Rahm-bo" -------------------------------------------------------- I'm praying that Obama has the stones to stand up to this guy and does what's right for the country even when it is not what's best for the Party. Let's kick this thread up in a couple of years and see how it turned out. Sudsy
Absolutely You don't have to be gay in the least to be able to see that McGreevy is better looking and more charismatic then say, you (don't ever run for public office ) I just wanta play everyday despite small nagging injuries -- and go home to a woman who appreciates how full of crap I truly am. ~ Crash Davis Social Distancing since 1962

Roadrunner
It's a reasonable theory. If Obama is brilliant in his own right, and not just a slick smile and a pretty face, he may do just fine. If not, he'd best surround himself with men much smarter than himself. (That's what GDubya did. And if he had'nt chosen so badly, and chosen those Paul Wolfowitz Neo-Con types, he might have done alright for himself. But he did'nt. And the rest is history. ) We'll know soon enough which side of the fence Mr. Obama falls on. "I think, that all right thinking people, are sick & tired of being told that they're sick & tired of being sick & tired. I, for one, am not. And I'm sick & tired of being told that I am."
