Sparky
I saw alot of headlines yesterday saying that this was a historic election. The US has elected its first black president. In all the excitement, the thought had slipped my mind. I'm hoping alot of people forgot about color too. Banned in Florida
brianbutler10
i agree whole heartedly, however, the fact of the matter that he is a black man (however qualified or unqualified which will be discussed indefinitely) is why he got elected. The only individual that could have beet him in this election would be Oprah Winfrey......(a black powerful woman). I tried (as i do with all candidates) to put party aside and choose who i believe would be best for me and my country. And in doing so, i believe that i had no bias as to black, white, male, female(vp), etc etc. I wish him the best for our country's sake.... I disagree, the only read the transcripts of the debates, race isn't evident in the transcripts, what IS evident is McCain got his ass handed to him, three times. chumfish
Why is someone who's half or one quarter black considered black? Why not white? We're all one race. Human.
Plugged
race was what got him elected - the debates are for people who care - I would be willing to bet that the major increase in minorities that came out to vote for Obama could barely tell you what he stands for or who Biden is - this is evident by several video interviews. Race was the deciding factor but dream if you must.
brianbutler10
the only read the transcripts of the debates, race isn't evident in the transcripts, Of course race wasnt evident in the debates. The republican party would have been foolish to even bring it up. Even know race is still a huge part of our society, it is not "proper" to ever bring it up. And yes, obama is a good speaker, but if you want to bring up transcripts.....then you really need to read them carefully. Yes, he is a good speaker, but what was at the heart of what he was speaking about?? Around and around the block we go.....Not a lot of specifics. And, i'm not saying that McCain did any better, b/c he is clearly not a good public speaker. But the original post mentioned color, and that is what i commented on. brianbutler10
well the Americans who DO care, watched them, and voted accordingly We would hope that everyone who votes would do the same. But, I think that the only thing that you can assure yourself is that you made the best decision that YOU could, not everyone else...... But the simple fact is, that it will never be a perfect election where everyone chooses the best candidate....whether its about race or political party, there will always be a portion of the voting body that chooses for the wrong reasons this was all about race Not all about race, but enough for it to be an easy victory because of it. And, in four years, it will be the exact same result. The only hope for republicans is that either Obama is worse than Bush (which wont happen), or they find a black candidate.... brianbutler10
I think it was more of an anti-Bush era mandate and that is the other reason that the Republicans were doomed from the beginning.... NCBBA #5665
fishnmagician
Keep dreaming buddy, you have no clue what you are talking about as usual, this was all about race for who? maybe on your side...... were you voting FOR McCain because you could not vote for a black man? if you state that you believe it was all about race, that is what you are admitting to. Aquacide
I think it was more of an anti-Bush era mandate. that and the weak GOP ticket. there was a real reason that so many senior republicans endorsed Obama, but the ******* can never be wrong. so they (as usual) drop to the lowest denominator. it makes them feel better Disclaimer: the above may not represent the actual views of the writer, but may have been expressed sarcastically/ ironically with the sole intention of providing humour. dogboy
the better candidate won you can debate whether the color of his skin got him voted in because it got the black vote out till the cows come home does his election help ease white guilt a tad?....i am sure but he was the better candidate at any rate
