Ever think of finding a conservative for the conservative party?

Ann Coulter:

Republicans lost this presidential election, and I don't blame the messenger; I blame the message. How could Republicans go after B. Hussein Obama (as he is now known) on planning to bankrupt the coal companies when McCain supports the exact same cap and trade policies and earnestly believes in global warming?

How could we go after Obama for his illegal alien aunt and for supporting driver's licenses for illegal aliens when McCain fanatically pushed amnesty along with his good friend Teddy Kennedy?

How could we go after Obama for Jeremiah Wright when McCain denounced any Republicans who did so?

How could we go after Obama for planning to hike taxes on the "rich," when McCain was the only Republican to vote against both of Bush's tax cuts on the grounds that they were tax cuts for the rich?

McCain? Or the Liberal Republican Party?

If your guy would have denounced global warming as the BS that it is-you would have won this election.

“My happiness is not the means to any end. It is the end. It is its own goal. It is its own purpose.”

JW....all of the above.

McCain ran an incompetent campaign. The Reps are a mere shell of themselves and could really change their name to Dem Lite (with not as much intelligence).

They are an embarrassment to anyone who considers themselves conservative.

As I've stated, they deserve everything they get.

View PostI believe the Republicans need a house cleaning too. The fact that McCain stayed as close in the race as he did, tells me the party isn't dead.

Great point, Mike. McCain had no right in receiving the pop vote he got. Unfortunately, sometimes I think the party needs to die and come back to life as something completely different than what it is now.

View PostI am with Soundfisher on this one. Party needs to be purged of the Rinos and a new Conservative Wave started. Not gonna be easy but maybe getting our/their butts kicked by the far left will clear some of the deadwood. I hope so.

Agreed Knight except for it was`nt the far left who won this election. It was quite a catholic mix.

Maybe this will finally set off a major rebuilding / redefining of all parties which could result in an improvement all around.

Senator McCain's big problem in this campaign was that he was honest and realistic about what he'd actually try to have happen.

Campaign promises aren't supposed to work that way. They're supposed to be "I want more stuff! Well, I'll give you more stuff!" despite the fact that that will never, ever, actually happen.

And let's be perfectly honest, here: The only chance that the Republican party had was in nominating someone who was moderate right to offset the several socialists running as Democrats this election.

People are mad at the Republican party, and the only chance at pulling them to a Republican candidate is through the promise of a moderate-right representative government when compared with absolute socialism. It didn't work this time, but we made the best effort we could. I don't think that any arch-conservative would have done nearly as well as Sen. McCain did in final polling, especially with the media acting with such untempered gall and bias as they did during this past election cycle.

The electoral vote was a landslide. It wasn't close at all.

MCCain did not run a good campaign, and was not his own man. He had uncomfortable bedfellows rammed down his throat in exchange for RNC assets.

I would like to see the GOP return to its roots from the fifties.

The Reagan Revolution has done a lot of harm to long term party health.

With the Bush approval ratings as low as they were, and a general disatisfaction with the Neo-cons, Obama should have swept all 50 states and McCain should have recieved less than 30% of the popular vote. That didn't happen is my point. This campaign was more about cleaning house after the last 8 years more than anything else. Short of Reagan himself, no Republican in my lifetime had a real chance. McCain did well under the circumstances IMO. Could he have run the campagin better? Sure. Obama's biggest problem, IMO, is going to be trying to meet lofty expectations. I wish him the best of luck and hope he has a sucessful presidency
