SAN FRANCISCO: It turns out that San Francisco voters didn't think naming a local sewage plant after President George W. Bush was a fitting tribute to the president - or the plant.

Voters on Tuesday rejected Measure R, which would have changed the name of the Oceanside Water Pollution Control Plant to the George W. Bush Sewage Plant. More than 69 percent had voted against the idea.

The measure's supporters said it was an appropriate way to memorialize the 43rd president, who they blame for a long list of national woes from the Iraq war to the slumping economy.

But some critics had pointed out the name switch would have been unfair - to the hardworking sewage plant.

The White House had declined comment on the measure, but other Republicans have denounced it as childish and stupid.

Politics is like driving - it's "R" to go backwards, and "D" to go forward.

Turnabout being fairplay, I've decided that every time I have to go take a dump, I'm going to say, 'Excuse me. I have to go take a Barack.' wink.gif

Excellent! Then it can be flushed (assuming you have indoor plumbing) and be processed at the Lieberman fecal matter processing plant!

I prefer peace. But if trouble must come, let it come in my time, so that my children can live in peace.

View PostGoes to show how vicious and radical that city has become.

First its naming buildings then its suicide bombers right?

The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?
