John P Posted November 6, 2008 Report Share Posted November 6, 2008 Rick, are you going to use this for salmon or salt water purposes? I ask because it makes a difference in what you get. Also if you are just trying this type of fishing out you can find a perfectly good rod for a lot less than a Loomis GLX. BTW Loomis is a great rod. I have several Elkhorn rods and LOVE them.. they make a 7/8 13ft spey and a 8/9 13.5 ft spey.. the cast great, are light, well balanced and well made, I think they were on sale for $279.00... awesome rod. id put it up against any other rod out there.. especially for someone new to spey casting.
