Granted, Clinton's "surplus" wasn't a national debt surplus rather then a budget surplus.

we did this a month ago,

apparently fiscal conservative has NOTHING to do with the national debt.

 

it has to do with opposing social programs,

 

you can fight a needless war,

give tax cuts during the war,

finance the tax cuts with debt,

and build a bridge to nowhere,

as LONG as you pay lip service to eliminating social programs.

one major problem I see in that file Bush 43 I am sure is not a fiscal Conservative. I believe Reagan was but he was also fighting an arms war to disable an enemy. Bush 41 I was to busy in the army protecting our freedoms to notice what he did. and anyone can play magic with money to show whatever they want to which is what Clinton did.

I agree though,

I prefer to look at the DEBT rather than budget deficits.

 

the bottom line is a more truthful picture,

either you borrowed to fund your spending or you did not.
