Miter saw?

My brother keeps taking his back so I am going to pick up my own. Needed for cutting trim work, general angle cuts etc. Since I am no pro (see photo) in the carpentry business, what do I look for. Since they range in price for <$100 to the extreme, any ideas would be great.

Thanks,

Cabo

I have had a few and think the next will be a sliding chop saw. I have a old PC with a laser that is set up in my woodshop and works great but it is not a compound miter. The laser is great but the saw does not travel, just used in the shop, and not moved. I have a Delta that is a compound and is OK but you must bend over to see where it is going to cut. I have one of those aftermarket lasers on it and it is OK but you must not cut to deep or the window in the laser will be broken. I gave away an old B&D that I used for many years to just cut angles on siding. All are 10 inch and I keep the blades sharp.

I bought the least expensive Craftsman compound miter saw when I was doing crown molding in the new house. It worked good. Cuts were precise. Be aware though your cuts are only as good as the aberrations that might not exist on the walls, if that makes sense otherwise I was happy with my purchase. I 'm no expert

All you need is a basic single bevel 10" compound mitre, Jon.

I dont know much about the newer non sliders, except that the Hitachi is the lightest, and that Delta made the best one back in '91. I still have mine, and use it. The next year they changed the design and absolutely ruined the saw.

I have a delta dual bevel saw for nearly 5 years now and it is great. My friend borrowed it a few times and would not buy anything until he found mine. It has a MSRP of $200 but you can find them down to $150.

Guys at work used it for a maintenance project and asked me to leave it after the job was was done they liked it so much.

Great tool. A little thing I like are the degrees are not in increments of 15 like many are now.
