mako20ft
Thanks to advice here on SOL I've bought a really nice 710Z for my wife. This is her first adventure into light surf casting and I'm anxious to get her comfortable. I'd like to pair the reel with a lightweight & thin handled rod in the neighborhood of 9'. As an example, my go to rod is a Sealine-X 10' Conventional that's light as a feather. If that were available in a 9' spinner I'd be convinced it would be perfect for her. Anyways...does anyone have a modestly priced rod they're willing to part with? Something around 3/4-3oz or equal and acceptable with braid (Fireline 30lb). Price is very important and I'm seriously capped at $75. If a seller does PayPal then I could stretch to $92.50 (which is my exact balance ) Kind regards...Dutch The wheels on my reels go round and round...round and round...round and round... 1dozenraw
If this is still up.... it's a very nice rod... thin and light weight and a good match up for the 710. http://www.stripersonline.com/surfta...d.php?t=622148 "We eat cold eels and think distant thoughts" Jack Johnson. That would also put me 2nd in line for dibs. Please keep em' coming. Dutch The wheels on my reels go round and round...round and round...round and round... mako20ft
nice rods can be had for under $75 at online stores. Yes...very true but what fun would that be? Actually, I'm hoping that someone has bought a rod in the $100 to $125 range and doesn't have a need for it anymore. With luck and now used, it would then come down into her price range and have a better rod. Dutch The wheels on my reels go round and round...round and round...round and round... mako20ft
Heydutch, You might want to consider converting it to manual bail so your wife does not get frustrated with snapped off lures flying away... jmy .02 Good advice...considered and I've got the Dremel on standbye waiting for the reel to arrive. She thinks that the bail is abnormal as she's got some time in with my bailess Mitchell models. I bet that piece of wire doesn't last 30 minutes on arrival . mako20ft
Gentleman, Manny was good enough to say he'll be back with a shipping price on his Airwave 9' model. Pleeeeeaaaaze tell me this isn't a can of worms but does anyone have an opinion of the 9' Airwave vs. the 9' Penn Pro Guide Series? Tackle Direct has the Penn for $69 brand new and that's tough to beat with Fuji guides, etc... All that said; in the real world are these pretty much equal competitors? Please forward any thoughts. Dutch I just got mine from TackleDirect! It came out to a total of $78 and some change shipped via USPS to MA. The Pro Guide has a longer handle. How tall is your wife?
