Patrick9915
If I recall correctly, they've always had the 50lb test but it's not very common. The 14/20/30lb varieties were very easy to find and could cover just about anything you wanted to do from the surf at least. I'm not sure about the 65 and the 80. Those may be new. EBHarvey
Those are the new fireline braids, the fused stuff still only comes in up to 30#. I prefer peace. But if trouble must come, let it come in my time, so that my children can live in peace.
dillonthebassboy
i uses to work at a bait and tackel shop. fireline above 50lb was never carried in our store which our store was known for having to much of everything we tried to have everything that was made in stock.....they could very well make it but ive never heard of anything coming out over 50lbs so my assumption would be its new...who knows tho for sure? i guess contact fireline if your really serious about finding out or not?? rocket500
I'm pretty sure its the new Fireline Braid, which shares nothing with the older fused Fireline other than the name.

Patrick9915
I could swear they made 50lb fireline at one point. The fused stuff. I know I remember someone talking about it either here or on another board and I was thinking, "That stuff must break at 80lbs".
rocket500
same fiber - dyneema I'm referring to the manner in which it is constructed. If you want to be really technical there are actually many other things they share, like they come in a box, that they are used for fishing and so on. I just never been able to find them until now. And they aren't too much more then the 30lb ones.

TACKLE JUNKIE
From Pure Fishing Australia: (I've seen it for sale online for a few years) Berkley Fireline XDS Fireline XDS is the next step in fused super lines. Fireline XDS is nearly half the thickness of regular fireline. This means lures swim deeper, you can use lighter weights and your reel will hold even more line. RegDunlop
Berkley should have called there new braid something other than fireline--fireline is unique--this is going to cause a lot of confusion -- already has. if we're looking for a shark we're not gonna find him on the land
Ditch Jigger
They made 50# regular Fireline at one time. I have some. It has the same feel to it as coated wire leader material Stuff also has to be as think as 40# mono, too "…if catching fish is your only objective, you are either new to the game or too narrowly focused on measurable results.” - D. But it was more like the regular FL, XDS, I think. I never used over 30#, back then.
