I'm working with cherry and when I was finishing the tail end of the plug.... It snapped off. Be careful guys RHM

go4broke44
I should probably get one too, I haven't had any flyoffs, but sometimes I'll nick an end and have a decent chunk come off. I usually don't turn things too thin either though. glad to hear you are ok RHM SOL #13275

Charleston
There is absolutely no excuse for not wearing a full face shield. They are very cheap and new plastic shield refills are next to nothing. Along with the respirator the face shield is a number one priority!.......nuf said! Glad to hear you were not seriously injured. I am old but I'm slow.

copycat
Before I get back to building (been awhile) I'm going to make a shield or cage to mount to the Vega. CC
capesams
I find it interesting that when a plug snaps off it comes up in your faces...all the ones that have snapped on me because I've taken the heads or tails down to an 1/16 have just fallen down on the lathe bed only to get sucked up into the dust collectors pipe...is it because your pushing to hard with your chisels or cutting points?
