bigpapamd1
which size braid is well suited for fishing seabass in deep water with sinkers 10oz or greater. 30lb braid is lighter but will it be to stressed with a good size seabass (or even double header @ 5lb+ each) and the weight of sinker. rt now im using a penn 309m with 50lb PP. jjdbike
I don't see much advantage to 30 over 50 braid for boat bottom fishing. The 50 is easier to handle, will hold up to the occasional large bycatch and is more versitle. I'd go w/ 50 unless casting and line capacity are crutial. My $00.02. I prefer Suffix Premium Braid but Power Pro works. Good luck! JD
Wayne Tj
I use 50# but you could use 30#. If you have 30, use it. If you're buying, I'd go with 50# for the added abrasion resistance. JD actually this is the only reel i have PP on. i like 20lb fireline which is stronger than the majority of 30lb braid but i use that more on my spinning reels. i also like tuf-line xp which to me is the most underrated braid out there. The difference in abrasion resistance between 30 and 50 lb braid is negligable, as neither has any. You need to use a mono topshot when fishing around any structure or rocks. Scotty
I don't have a pure cbass outfit, so i use my tog stuff. the mates on the bmh sure give me a lot of $h!t when I get caught up with the heavy (50#) braid w/ mono top-shot. i'm downsizing everything this year to 30(but will probably keep my leaders (and topshot) a little heavier. Pametfisher
I use 50# braid with a top shot of mono. I want to second this post. I'm a PowerPro user but got a sample of Daiwa 55# 8 strand that is very thin. I put a Bimini Twist in and then connect the leader with a friction-type knot. It keeps 85%+ of the line strength. Its all in my/your head, you would never know the differance-IMO
