I started with with PP. Like it but did have the occasional "wind knot" and mysterious break off. I was using it on a Tica Taurus 4000. Found that the lowest you could go was 40lb. When I got my VS this year I ummmed and arrred about what to do myself. Finally decided to go with 20lb Fireline. Never gonna look back. I LOVE the stuff. Easy to knot, better abbrasion resistance and NO wind knots. I know that going bailees removes the potential for wind knots but with the VS's concave line lay I think PP could be problematic.

If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.

I like Fireline Crystal. 30# will break a 40# Mono leader every time on a hangup, saving your line.

Takes about one good outing to wear off the waxy stuff then its just right.

Don't like the color though, It's not "translucent", it's bright white.

Going to try regular fireline next year just because of the color.

The 30# Suffix I tried cast great, seemed thinner than fireline, but I tested the strength and I would say 30# fireline is almost twice as strong.

try pp and fl and see what you like .

been there done that . tried everal others too.

i will never use pp again . fireline is tough , holds a great knot , and is more user friendly imo . i re-back a 706 spool with a little mono once in a while and 300 yds. will last me several years . it has never faild me . i like 30 lb. on the 706z and 20 on the 710 .

An oceans Striper is tough , mean and strong . Nurtured by the oceans bounty , wits sharpened by the oceans competition , toughened by the swift , endless , tidal currents.

Fireline isnt a braid but...

I use fireline on reels that are not suppose to be braid friendly. My old penn's and mitchells.

Otherwise I use Powerpro. I think Powerpro cast better and handles better than fireline any day of the week. And I only had issues with wind knots for the first few weeks I used it. After I gave it a chance and learned what not to do I have not had one problem with it since.

from the looks of it, seems like a 6 weave dyneema braid.

ive got a pack of 20 40 and 65 incoming in the mail.
