WoodCarver
Anyone use braid on these old reels? Do the reels/roller need to be modified in any way? What kind of braid do you use?(that is if braid can be used on these reels) Thanks Tom Some people misplace their dreams and then later claim that they were robbed
Billy29
I wouldn't. I used 25 lb mono on mine and that was plenty of line with plenty of strength.
emgred
I used to use 20 and/or 30 lb Tournament Ande on my Cracks. The last time I spooled one of my 300s, I went with Fireline. If you pay attention to keeping the roller clean and lubed you won't have a problem with Fireline. True Braid (Power Pro or Suffix for example) might be problematic given the original rollers on Cracks. I would bet that a modified roller could be machined that would allow the use of braid. A Curmudgeon's reputation for malevolence is undeserved. They're neither warped nor evil at heart. They don't hate mankind, just mankind's absurdities. Rob L
I have been using braid on Luxor/Crack reels for several years. Have not had any difficulty. However, I am using a carbide roller. I don't know how the original stainless roller will hold up. Rob L
