Bump abuse !

8. Bumps and "ttt" posts are limited to once per day with a TOTAL OF TWO BUMPS PER THREAD.

Does anyone else not like the bump abuse that goes on? And it never gets enforced. Why is that? Why have the rule? Can I be the Bump Enforcer ?biggrin.gif All it does is clog the top of the forum with old threads...People see the items and if they want it , they will bite... There is no need to bump every day! cwm13.gif I think it should be every 72 hours... And if you need to drop your price or add something...EDIT the original post !! You should only be allowed to answer questions within the 72 hour period...

View PostIf you wanna bump your item without doing it yourself, just get a bunch of your buddies to comment on what a great product it is that your selling, with none of them actually buying it. cwm40.gif

#3 says that if you are not interested in buying it...stay out of it...

Seriously, I don't need to see the same reel for sale every day.... Do you agree? It's not friggin' hard to go back a couple pages if someone is looking for something

Just remember the rules are like guidelines and if you guys don't report the stuff then it goes unnoticed. If its bumped a 3rd time 3 or 4 days later, who cares? And to be quite honest I've myself have laxed up alittle becuase it seems lately your stuff for sale is half way down page 2 in 4 or 5 hours.

I'm not sure what abuse your talking about headscratch.gif

Again the rules are guidelines and thats how bumps have been treated. If there is a bump after 24 hours, then one after 48 then one 3 or 4 days later whats the problem? Accually last month I did nail somebody who totally abused it, first time I explained the rules and he agreed he knew what the rules meant and I unlocked the thread. 2 weeks later he did it again and I locked the thread. I recieved a Pm from him stating he forgot and asked if I'd unlock it so he could relist the items and I said no.

Again If the the stuff isn't reported then most times it goes unnoticed. I myself haven't seen abuse of this and if I have a simple pm solves the problem.

We're not dropping the hammer on somebody who's trying to get rid of something and they bumped a third time 2 days later or a 4th time a week later. The rules are meant as guidelines. smile.gif

I totally understand what your saying as them being guidelines... But the thread says Forum Rules... Mainly the abuse is bumping more than twice... Bumping more than twice a week apart is perfectly fine... Have seen more than one bump in a 24 hour period.... I just think the top of forum can be cleaner....

I'll agree with you on that, I just fixed one that was only 7 hours since it was posted. Again I've been alittle lax on that beacuse some days in an 5 to 8 hour period something thats been posted has made its way to the second page. Which I don't have a problem with if it did make its way to page 2. Alot of people don't go past half the first page. If somebody posted something at 9 in the morning and bumped it at 11 or 12 at night 9 times out of 10 it was on page 2 already. Now if its like the one I just found then yes I feel thats a problem.

View PostI think 5-8 hours to make page 2 does not happen often...the bottom of page 2 right now is 2 days ago...

It is today, but back at the beginning of the week people were listing stuff like mad. It slowed down towards the end of the week.

I cant go along with that, I see treads closed for over bumbs, The Moderators would be on a 24/7 just to inforse bumps, what I dont care for is when the tread is over and it gets bump.

Does that mean that it's OK to deal through PM's to close a deal sometimes? Or announce sales elsewhere just once in a while? Or It's just a guideline right?!? If it is a rule, it should be treated like a rule. The "rule" is clearly listed at the top of the BST- No more than 2 bumps; it does not say anything about a time period for your 3rd and 4th bumps. If that is the intent of the rule then the wording needs to be changed to reflect that.

Personally, I hate the bump, I think it ruins the BST, But I also don't see a whole lot of it anymore from the sellers who I noticed abusing it in the past. There's a few still doing it and I report it when I see it. Tim and the other Mods do a good job of policing it in my opinion.

I haven't really seen this as a huge problem. when I don't want to read soemthing that's been bumped, I don't open it. Doesn't slwo me down or cause a problem for me. The mods keep it down to a dull roar and we keep rolling. Works for me.

NOBODY here has a pass to blow out someone else's candle in order to make theirs shine brighter. TLDig[
