Anyone know how to remove the thing?

Actually, for starters, anyone know where the thing is? bucktooth.gif

It's a 4500B. I'm looking to just remove the clicker from the baitrunner drag, not the main drag clicker.

Here's the schematics: 525

Is it: RD 3016 - Click Gear

Or: RD 2963 - BaitRunner Click Spring

Both? Neither? headscratch.gif

View PostWhy do you want to remove it? Then you won't know when a fish takes off with the bait. headscratch.gif

I actually don't use it for bait, I use it as a freespool to drift jigs/plugs in heavy currents. smile.gif

View Postloosen the drag until that knob comes off completely. Then lift up the spool. Its a small piece of metal underneath the spool attached to a spring.

Thanks, but that's the main drag clicker. smile.gif

The Baitrunner drag has it's own clicking widget somewhere inside the real. 525

Do you mean that you want to disable the clicks when you are turning the BaitRunner tension Dial (RD3021) ??

otherwise the main drag clicker and the BR clicker are the same.

when the spool is turning either from the BR mechanism or from the main drag it clicks from the same part and you can use johnB advice.

My main-drag clicker on my baitrunner failed on me, but the baitrunner drag clicker works perfectly.

Here's the question, though: Why would you want the clicker on the main-drag but not the baitrunner? I thought that was the whole point of the baitrunner clicker?

It's been a while since I've had a Baitrunner apart. I want to say that part number RD 2963 spring will disable the clicker. I'm just not sure whether you'll need to shave that clicker arm that rides on the gear or not. Somethng tells me you might have to without the tension on that arm.

That's how I thought it would work too, but it doesn't.

With the baitrunner engaged, the main shaft rotates with the spool. There's a separate clicker inside.

You can tell by removing the spool (which the main drag clicker is attached to), engaging the baitrunner, and then twisting the main shaft. smile.gif

You cannot remove the Baitrunner mode drag clicker. The "clicker" is an integral part to make the clutch work. If you remove it, the clutch won't work.....sorry.........
