fishchile
Bigs don' t care where you get your plugs. Some of my best producers are store bought plugs. Mike D
I fish nice wood plugs but 5" Storm Wildeye Mullet and Bunker are still the #1 fish producers in all conditions and locations and they cost about $1.50 a piece "Sea shore washed by the suds and the foam, been here so long he's got to callin it home"
valentine
World record was caught on a mass produced plastic plug. I throw more mass produced plastic than anything, and I do pretty well, thank you. Don't get fooled into thinking you've got to be laying out lots of dough to catch good fish. How many 40 and 50's have been taken by rubber shad that cost a dollar or two? Â Valentine

Striperknight
I've caught a lot of nice fish on store bought Bombers. Don't get caught up on the "hype" of wood plugs.
jimmy z
I'll second the eels. Plugs work, but at night, I'll put on an eel before a plug. AKN-2 USS Sagittarius BE ENCOURAGING, NOT DISCOURAGING <*((())))>< <*((())))><
medic6973
My best fish ever was on a walmart diamond jig (but boat fish don't count). My best surf fish was on a Superstrike darter. Most fish in a day was a Gibbs pencil. All available in the store. Saving the world, one skell at a time.LIBBA #1384
TBD
My best fish night (multiple large this past spring) was done on a 4 for $1.99 rubber shad  However, my personal best (only fish of the night) was on a Hab's 2oz needle .  G-D bless John Hab's and may he rest in peace watching over his family and us while on the surf.  TBD TBD CC

Do you really think a fish in the 30 and 40# class can tell the difference between a 15.00 dollar plug and a 40.00 plug. Its not the price of the plug its the action, the retrieve, where your throwing it and when. 3 years ago the only plug I used was a 15 dollar McFadden plug and I caught quality fish all in the fall. this year is the bomber thats paying off and they dont cost 40.00. numbskull
Natedog, 99% of my fishing is done with top quality custom wood, and I happily go to huge trouble and expense to do it, but I can't think of a plug I own or build that is as deadly or versatile as a Redfin.......nevermind an eel.  Expensive wood is a luxury, not by any means a necessity.
